Wipe up deposit. Treat with amyl acetate or acetone, not oily nail polish remover! Flush out with white spirit. Remove colour traces with methylated spirits. If washable article, rinse. Wash as usual.

the active ingredient in most nail polish removers is acdetone-it dissolves acetate and weakens some other synthetics. it shouldn't affect the silk itself however it might mess with the color.
If theres no hope of removing the stain then this is a chance to experiment---- print a big bold motif in an exciting color over it and the stain won't matter. And if your "motif is awful???
well the skirt was ruined anyway. HAVE FUN

RE: Getting Nail Polish Off a Silk Skirt

Silk is sensitive so I would try a little nail polish remover on the other side of the hem to test, then if it doesn't change the color of the silk or damage the fabric, carefully (using a Q-tip) work on the nail polish stains. I doubt that dye would have any effect. Anything you try, check the label for warnings about use on silk.

It's a difficult stain on a delicate fabric. Good luck and let us know if anything works to get it out.

Don't polish your nails when you are dressed up!

try a chemical called "awesome" my cousin spilled nail polish on her carpet and of course it stained i gave her a bottle of awesome and it took the stain right out. it can be found at dollar stores and i believe kroger/meijers. good luck if all else fails dye your skirt with rit and see if it can take the stain out.
