Displaying Cupcakes at a Party

Does anyone have a cheap idea for displaying cupcakes at a child's birthday?

What about a kids red wagon? Put them in the back with an umbrella turned upside down, with them in it.

I know that Joann's has a cupcake display and if you watch the paper (or even get onto their website) they almost always have a 40% off coupon so that would be cheap.

Instead of cupcakes in the traditional manner, for younger children I usually make the cupcakes in ice cream cones that have a flat bottom. Just fill the cone 1/2 full, set the cones in the cup cake baking tin and bake normally. The cones are easy to hold, easier to eat and no paper mess! Because they are "different" they kind of make their own display!

I like to display cupcakes or pastries on tiered pedestal serving plates. This gives your food/dessert table some height and a focal point. I bought a 3 tiered set from World Market for around $20.
Also try Target and Wal-Mart.

How old is she? The grocery stores that make cakes also use cupcakes and make a number out of them. You could cover a piece of cardboad with foil or fabric. Use what you can for her age...put the rest on a platter/plate that you already have.

My daughter does cup cakes for her kids birthday parties all the time. One year she made them look like a long caterpillar; eyes (mini chips) and antennas (licorice) on the first one. Another time she put them in the shape of a flower; middle ones were frosted yellow, "petals" were frosted blue and the stem and leaves were frosted green. You can do just about any shape with cupcakes...they are a great idea for a party and saves from cutting and serving a cake.

I have a "party tub" that I keep things in all year for our one big party every year. I happened to have some fabric I got off the dollar rack in there. I used the fabric to cover boxes placed on different levels to put my cupcakes on. It turned out really cute.

HI! Unless cupcakes are a must....try using donuts..stacked in a circles...topped with a flag with a birthday or party themed message. Kids always love donuts (especially the ones with sprinkles on them)....Adults do too. Happy Party!

Yes, place about 24 or more cupcakes on a round platter close together making a pumpkin shape, take your cake decorating bag or tube, place the star tip, fill bag with orange colored frosting, start covering the cupcakes with stars to cover the total shape. Next, place the eyes, nose & mouth shapes with either black or other color (yellow). At top you can place a half of cupcake & color green for the stem. The kids can take a cupcake from the shape with no problem. You could do an owl as well. Have fun.
