Cat Problem

I have a 8 yr old male cat who recently dislikes my boyfriend. He did nothing to my cat. All of a sudden after six months of being together my boy hisses at my boyfriend when he comes over, he went to pet my boy and he bit him. The other day my boy and my boyfriend both in kitchen, my boy hunched in chair, growling, hissing, boyfriend doing dishes then my boy deficated on my chair. I feel he is jealous, because my boyfriend does not allow my boy nor female in the bedroom when he comes over. My female who is 14 yrs old is ok with this but not my boy. Please help me!

I have two female cats, Polly and Ally... I got Polly when she was a kitten at a animal shelter knowing that she was a wild cat, and I got Ally about 3 months after I got Polly but I got Ally from a friend who couldn't have pets in his home. Polly is now 2yrs old and Ally is about 5yrs old. Polly and Ally have always been good cats around my boyfriend and Polly would even crawl up in bed with us and sleep in between us.

My boyfriend went away for 4 months to Alaska and when he came back both Ally and Polly changed dramatically... Ally loves my boyfriend but hates me... She wont come near me anymore and will growl or even hiss at me if I try and pick her up or pet her... And Polly all of a sudden started hissing at my boyfriend every single time he goes near her or even looks at her but she is soo lovey dovie with me...

What gives????

Why have our cats all of a sudden picked sides? And why does Ally hate me but loves my boyfriend and why does Polly hate my boyfriend but love me????

My partner and I adopted an older male cat from a shelter a couple of months ago. He tolerates my partner but is definitely a mummy's boy. He bites my partner, not hard enough to hurt, just enough to let him know not to touch him, although he's super affectionate with me and loves being on my lap and being petted and cuddled. I feel desperately sorry for my partner who was the one who wanted to get a cat more than me and I wish the cat would be more affectionate towards him. If anyone's got any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I have been having the same problem with my 6 year old male cat. He was fine with my boyfriend until about 3 months into the relationship when he (boyfriend) started spending more time at my apartment. The cat flees as soon as he hears his voice (even over the answering machine). I was a bit startled thinking something had happened but, since realize he just seems upset at the change in the household. I have a very small apartment so it's hard for the cat to have his own space. My older female cat, however, is still acting the same as she did in the beginning (I'm of course her favorite but enjoys his attention also).
There haven't even been any restrictions in my household since the behavior change. He hides and only comes out at night when my boyfriend is sleeping (or very quiet).
I was trying to fix this problem but have since just about given up thinking they will be buddies. I would love to remedy this so, if you find something that works, please do share!

My male cat Scooter is very jeolous of my husb. and when my hubby kisses me cat loudly howls or cries pathetically, yet Scooter runs up to sit in my husb's lap all the time he just does not like us kissing...he always is right there and so now my husb. picks Scooter up and plays with him and he is o.k. with this. Females cats never seemed to be so petty.

My cats started acting like this after being around my ex-husband for several months. Turns out he was abusing them when I wasn't around. Animals can be very good when it comes to judging character. If you are absolutely positive he isn't hurting or teasing the cat when you aren't looking, and the vet gives your cat a clean bill of health, then you need to work to repair the relationship. Your cat is smart enough to realize that the reason his territory (the bedroom) is now off limits is related to your boyfriend. Make sure your cat realizes that your boyfriend is a good guy. Have your boyfriend fill the food dish and offer small food treats that your cat likes. Make sure that all attention your cat gets is related to the boyfriend being around. Talk about and to your cat while your boyfriend is around and talk to the cat about your boyfriend. Make all experiences as positive as you can; try not to isolate your cat anymore than he already feels. It may take a long time to repair the relationship, but it will be worth it. If your boyfriend starts making ultimatums that you choose between him and the cats, choose the cats. Any man who would make you give up something you love, will continue to do so. You don't say why he won't let the cats in the bed room. The reason could give some insight. Feel free to contact me if you need more help.

It sounds like your cat is feeling very insecure. It's funny that he would start doing this after knowing your boyfriend for 6 months. He may also be hurt or sick. I would check with your veterinarian about this behavior. He may have some ideas.

I have seen one cat I was caring for act like this, just attacked for no reason when we had been friends for years. His owner was out of town and he seemed fine after she returned home. Sorry I can't be more help.
