When my grandbaby came home from the hospital I had just gotten a new mattress. I didn't have the zip cover on it yet! But a friend of mine said rub corn starch into the wet spot let it dry and vacuume it off. That has been 10 year's ago. I still have the mattress and you would never know it happened. NO stain marks at all.

I used resolve power stain and a woolite pod together. I didn't need excessive water, so it dried quickly, and it worked really well, smell and all.

Well my boyfriend and I have a cream colored mattress and DO NOT try Hot Shot on your mattress it stains so do not try it like we did!!

Try Folex, it is an enzyme based stain remover, and odor remover at Walmart with the other rug cleaners. It is worth it...it gets out old stains 90% of the time, especially bodily fluids! Something that I can suggest when removing the stain, is to make sure that you stand the mattress up rather than wetting the mattress when it is flat. This prevents the wet soaking deep into the mattress which can then be difficult to dry.

I would try Oxy Clean, I have used it many times and it always removes my stains, spray the mattress good with it and let set a little while then take a damp cloth and rub it a little, Stain should come out.

Archived Request: Cleaning a Stain Off a Mattress
I am in need of some help. My cat became very ill and vomited on my bed numerous times. By the time that the discovery was made it already made it into the mattress. I have been pricing mattresses and it seems like it would be more beneficial at this time to attempt to clean the mattress. Does anyone know a good way to clean and sanitize a mattress? I have been sleeping on the couch!

Peroxide for the stains,OUT for the smell & I think,or at least I Hope Carrol from the bahamas means Polyethylene,not polyurethane which is a kind of clear paint like shellac .
The clear plastic stuff comes in large rolls,I know. I just stapled it all over my front porch for winter & because we thought Bonnie might've headed our way . Blessedly she didn't but she & Charley sure got my rumpus in gear to do that much needed project .
Maybe Fantastik Oxy clean might help,I read in a previous newsletter that it lives up to it's name & you can then dry your mattress with a blow dryer,but don't put the dryer directly on the fabric just close.

I have dealt with worse so I know the peroxide & OUT will work , But use them on separate occasions,I have No Idea if they mix well,just that they both work & OUT is good on stains too.
It smells like Intense Vanilla Extract. I buy it by the Half gallon & it can be diluted .I should buy stock in the company.

I would soak the area with vinegar to remove any smell. It may take a day or two to dry but I've never had any problems soaking an area with vinegar. As far as looks, I've found that baby wipes are great at getting stains off of carpet and furniture so I would try it on the spot. You may have to really scrub. I would do it when the mattress is dry.

Medical peroxide is about 2 or 3 for $1.00 at the Dollar Store or cheap deal stores. I have used it on set blood on cloth that has been washed and dried in the dryer and it has lifted it out. On such matter it will fizz until it expands it out of the cloth. After I used this and got it clean I would use an auto seat cleaner like Johnson and Johnson as it can be used around the house on just about anything. When dry, vacuum the mattress. If you live where it is possible you could put it outside in the sun to air out and freshen up.

Try an enzyme based stain digester, available in the pet section at most stores. I've used OUT cat pee remover on many items and it really works. I also love beaumont products pet odor eliminator (http://www.citrusmagic.com)

this is in response to Tina from Arizona. I do not know how to get the stain out but you could cover the mattress with heavy duty builder's polyuretheneand tape it with duct tape.
