Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to get rid of or prevent kidney stones? My Chiropractor of all people is who found that I had a kidney stone! After that I went to the emergency room because I have no insurance. They ran all kinds of expensive tests (over $2000) and said "You have a kidney stone and a gall stone". They gave me 3 prescriptions for pain pills and sent me home! It's no wonder people get addicted to pain killers!

That was last August and I have been in pain since then. The only thing that seemed to help was drinking cranberry juice. I found the next best thing at Wal-Mart - concentrated cranberry pills. They worked for a while but now the pain is back even when I take the pills. I'm on my 4th bottle now and take 6 cranberry pills a day. I still have a lot of pain. Is there anything that would help besides pain pills?

Does anybody know "which vegetable is used by JOE BARTON to help remove kidney stones?" According to him this vegtable slush can help break the stone in pieces and will be out within 24 hours.

Has ANY body tried him ? I have a stone in my kidney now and would like the reply ASAP. Thanks, Ritesh

I am going to try the lemon juice and olive oil. I agree DR. don't know everything and it is about time we get to Nat'l health care. It's ridiculous that we have to suffer because we can't afford to see a DR. and get help.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

I have had kidney stones for 10 years, tried EVERYTHING in the book. Had every treatment in the book. I had the ones that look like a goat head sticker that REALLY HURT. I started drinking a glass of milk a week as a last resort and stopped having them completely. When I forgot the milk (which contains vitamin D) , stones came back. Now I take vitamin D pills out of the bottle. Apparently I was lacking this vitamin and my body couldn't process calcium. NOW why didn't my wonderful urologist come to this conclusion years ago? I think he enjoyed the constant income his "stone factory" as he called me, provided his office.

FYI, cranberry will not make a stone go away, it will only help the discomfort in the urinary system. It will, however, get rid of a urinary tract infection.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

I had gallstones about three months ago. My stomach had swollen up and was hard like a rock. I was in so much pain i thought I was going to burst. I fasted for 24 hours however I did drink water. I then took 2 cups of virgin olive oil and one cup of "Real squeezed lemon juice with one teaspoon Epsom salt and 6 teaspoons honey to help the taste. I mixed this concoction and split it three ways. The first cup I got down with little issues in about 15 minutes.

The second cup was harder. It took 45 minutes, and the third cup took me one and one half hours. Ha, ha, ha..but I finally got it all down. Yes It was the worst night of my life however within 24 hours after drinking the concoction my body released well over 2 cups of gallstones; lime green looking ones. Three were the size of a golf ball. Tiny ones had compacted together to form these balls. I was sick for the next 2 days after that but all and all I spent less than 25 dollars to rid myself of the pain.

The doctor I went to early on wanted to remove my gallbladder. WOW He wanted to just remove it? Thanks for caring about my overall health DOC. Understand the risk in doing this at home is the same risk as going to the doctor and having it removed...things can happen (BOTH WAYS). Many people I know are NOW on medications because they no longer have their gallbladder doing the function it use to do...hum.

Yes, we have a gallbladder for a reason. I did however change my diet which helped a lot and began taking vitamins. I cant believe how soft my stomach is. For 3 years my stomach was hard. Now it is as soft as it was before the stones. I noticed someone making a comment about the pain and that a doctor is more advisable. Well I have this to say. The pain of paying an overpriced doctor far exceeds the few days of pain i was in for 25 dollars.

It's not that bad of a pain. It's more like being really ill but again only for a few days. I would do it all over again without question. I do however recommend that a doctor is seen to verify if it really is gallstones or something else. It would also be a good idea to have a doctor watch over you during this time in the event of complications but if you are like me and cant afford that. At least have a buddy nearby watching over you.

Hi, I've used the coke and asparagus cure to get rid of my kidney stones. I had some 3 years ago and then again last week. I did get some pain meds and have a urine and blood test done to make sure it really was kidney stones and not something else. I just went to community care not the hospital this time- saved thousands. I give more details on my website and you can email me off it's contact page. Good luck and I'm continuing to do additional research and trying to remember to drink MORE WATER!!!! and unsweetened apple juice.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

I am a sufferer of kidney stones. I currently have one that is trying to pass and causing a great deal of pain. The last time I had a stone (7 years ago) I had to have it physically removed by a urologist. It was such torture, but once it was out I could get back to my normal life. I would suggest you see a urologist as soon as possible. There are tests that can be run, but if you're certain you have them and you're still in pain after all this time I would definitely seek the attention of a specialist. Kidneys are such vital organs and the longer you put off taking care of the stones the more damage occurs. Please take care of yourself and let us know your prognosis.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

When I had kidney stones my doctor told me one way to ensure that they never return is to drink a half gallon (64 oz) of water per day. I got my stones from taking calcium pills. Hope this helps.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

I was having a terrible time with stones. If you have the oxolate type of stone this should work. If you have calcium stones look elsewhere. Take 250 mg magnesium oxide and 200 mg of vitamin b 6 every day with a glass of water every day. These are "over the counter" products. Drink a reasonable amount of water every day. Stay away from oxolate derived foods like spinach, beets, etc. The magnesium will dissolve the stones and the b-6 will lower the acid in the urine that causes the stone yo form. You should notice tiny bits of the stone in gravel form exiting your urethra within a week. These are good sources of vitamins and minerals that your body uses anyway. This info came from a chiropractic source back in the 70's and has worked for me.

I got on this website because I am having a kidney stone right now. It is hurting so bad I can hardly type this e-mail.
Does anyone know if drinking orange juice or lemon juice will help when you're actually having a stone attack or will this just help to prevent them?

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

Royal Break stone (must be whole plant extract) by whole World Bontanicals) 500mg....took 2 every 6 hours or so. Doctor said I needed surgery as they were to large to pass, NOT SO! Pain gone within 20 min to 1 hour..dissolves stones into smaller than sand particles...couldn't even tell I passed them. that was 3 years ago... And drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily..stones gone in less than 2 weeks. Not that it matters much because after taking the Chanca Piedra, you have no pain anyway...

Do be careful not to purchase the whole world botanical extract from 1000 of chanca piedra...as its no good. Look them up on the web and order directly from them...most health food stores don't carry this item...

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

Thanks everyone who gave me suggestions on how to get rid of my stone.

I went to the free clinic 2 weeks ago and the dr. said that I had an infection. She put me on an antibiotic and the pain seemed to ease. She said that I had bacteria and blood in my urine. Last week she said that the infection was gone but I still had a lot of blood in my urine. She sent me for bloodwork and an IVP (where they put dye in your veins and then X-ray the kidneys). They said that the kidneys are functioning fine but I was allergic to the dye and got a couple of hives from it.

The dr. said yesterday that I have a kidney stone the size of a quarter that is too large to pass so I will probably have to have surgery.

Thanks again everybody. This probably won't be my last kidney stone so I'll use your home remedies next time I have a stone.

Hello, yes these are very painful...I know how it is not to afford a doctor, but you may need too. It or they may be too big for you to pass. My husband had one, ready to pass it. Orange juice, he was told to drink, it will cause the tudes from the kidney to enlarge, thus you passing the stone. Keep drinking the cranberry juice to, to help flush your kidneys and water. I hope this helps. It helped my husband. God Bless, saying a prayer.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

This is almost similar to Jean's suggestion, but this preparation is almost successful as tried many of my friends. Prepare 3 liters of apple juice, divided accordingly to be drank in 5 days. You can eat normally as you want. On the 6th day, 4 hours before you go to bed, drink 1 pill of Epsom salt, about 15 grams or 1300 mg. with 2 glasses of mineral water. after 2 hours drink 8 oz. of virgin olive oil and 8 oz. lemon juice. Early morning you will feel emptying your stomack. Very dark greenest substance will come out of your body. Goodluck from Apple J79

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

Try making a tea out of Watermelon Seeds. You just
simmer the seeds in water until it starts to turn the
water to color. Cool and add some sugar if you like.
My husband found that it was difficult to drink without
some sweetner. You make want to drink it hot like
hot tea. I keep watermelon seeds in the freezer every summer to make sure I have some on hand all the time. This was given to me by an elderly lady
that said her family always used this for Kidney Stones. Hope this will help.
Also see a Dr. if needed. My husband did see a Dr. and this tea helped better than what the Dr. gave him.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

You do need to get to the doctor to determine if anything needs to be removed. As expensive and difficult as it is to do this, it's better than getting a more serious condition from letting something go. I had severe pain last year for an entire day and night and went to the E.R. I had a blocked gall bladder duct from some large stones that had to be surgically removed. If I had let it go, it could have poisoned my system if something burst.

As for the kidney stones...my husband has had several. Drinking soda is supposed to be deterimental, and his doctor told him to avoid salty snacks. He has had some removed surgically as well as lithotripsy, but the past few he has been able to pass on his own in a couple of days after drinking plenty of water. Kidney stones, left untreated, can also cause problems if they were to block off the urine flow and cause actual kidney problems.

Again, as difficult as it is to think of paying those bills, you do need to be seen by a doctor.

When my husband had a kidney stone, his Dr. told him to avoid spinach, I guess it is because of the sand that it is grown in.I don't know if it is the fresh or frozen spinach.Kersti

From an old retired nurse.
Please DO NOT follow Jean's advice with gall stones. THe olive oil causes contractions in the bile duct. the pain is to die for................
I't would be ok if you only had kidney stones.
Good luck to you.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

I have had kidney stones for several years and have had them surgically removed and then lithrotripsy 3 times.
First the urologist had me drinking 16 oz of lemonade a day which did help and now I take a prescription called Urocit-K which has really helped to break the stones up and prevent more. It's a very painful problem. Don't put off finding out what the pain is really from as it could cause you many more problems. Good luck to you.

For one change your diet to as close to nature as possible. Eliminate all the garbage food.As jean posted above there are many wonderful "do it yourself" remedies but educate yourself first and of course it is always good to start with a clean body meaning don't try to detox an overloaded system. Checkout curezone dot com for one place, for some wonderful info.
Good luck and all the best to you!

Oh man , I feel for you I had gaulbladder stones and I know how that hurt thought I was gonna die. Man, to have both at the same time how horrible. My advice would be to see a Dr. at a clinic and have them taken out . Both can be very dangerous especially if the stones get caught in the gaulbladder tube.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

If you're in that much pain and the cranberry pills aren't working, maybe it's not the kidney stones causing the pain. Maybe it's the gallstones. You should have passed the kidney stone a long time ago. As far as I know the only cure for gallstones is surgery. If a stone clogs a duct you could be in serious trouble. I suggest you have it checked immediately.

RE: Home Remedies for Kidney Stones

There is a natural remedy for getting rid of kidney stones.---For two days, drink nothing but apple juice, then at the end of two days drink 6 ounces of olive oil and 6 ounces of pure lemon juice, separately or combined, doesn't matter. I spoke with a friend who did this and it really worked. She was amazed at what she found. Good luck to you and God bless.
