After cards were dealt I was first, and I picked the card that been turned over after deal, I did not have discard at that time. I was able to play my complete hand and pick up my foot and continue to play. After I had played all the cards I could I passed to the next player, was I supposed play a discard at this time, or was the rule that I didn't have to play discard still valid?

Thank ya'll so much for the help with Hand and Foot card game. Now that I saw ya'll's version it nearly all comes back thanks again for answering. I guess when ya get old ya forget ha ha

I have a computer version I could email to you. Email me at iamchef dot leighann at yahoo dot com if you want it. I have played Hand & Foot many times with cards as well as on the computer. I would really have to think about the basic rules as it has been a LONG time.

Deal each player two piles of 11 cards. Choose one leaving the other to be the "foot". Draw two cards each play. The idea is to make "books" of seven like cards. All naturals are "clean" books worth 500 and books with wild cards (deuces and jokers) are "dirty". You need two of each to go out. There is a scale for how many points you need for a "meld". There is no short version and everyone has different rules in the mobile home parks down here where winter visitors come from all over. The game is played with partners, either 4 or 6. It is a knock off of Canasta, so the object is to get books of seven of the same number.

The amount of books is determined by the house rules. Deuces and jokers are wild, and if the book is made without them it counts as 500, with them 300. Two sets of cards are dealt to each player. 13 cards for your hand, and 11 for your foot,(which is not picked up until you have played all your hand) Play goes, as 2 cards are drawn from the pile and one discarded.

Each round requires a certain count to lay down the initial start (must be three of a kind).First round requires 50, next round 90 and third round 150. Once your partner has made the first lay down then all of your team can play on it. Scoring is counted as follows: Red Threes count 100 (another card is drawn if you lay down one)and kept separate. Black threes count as 300 against you so discard them. Aces are 20, Face Cards 10 down to 8 and 7 down count 5. Dueces are 25 and Jokers are 50.

Whichever team gets the required books first (we play 3 perfect ones and 2 with wild cards)gets 100 for playing all their cards and going out. The losing team counts the cards left in their hands and subtracts that total from their other count. Besides the score for books, each card on the board is also counted as I mentioned and added up. Feel free to ask questions if I have confused you. It is difficult to explain without hands on.

Try this site: www.everyrule.com It is supposed to have rules for games, etc, english grammar, anything that has rules. I used this site years ago and found what I was looking for. Can't hurt to try it out.
