To keep grass from growing between bricks, or cement sidewalk cracks, sprinkle the spaces with salt.

You can also use vinegar..the cheap white kind..I buy it in the big bottles. Just pour on the grass on a sunny day and by the next day it will be dead..make sure the day is sunny, and no rain in the forecast:-)
