Blooming Bonnets

Last summer just after Easter I purchased a dozen little straw hats just the size for dolls from a sale rack. They were just drab straw colored so I decided to paint them. Then to go a step further I hot glued them onto skewers and a few old pieces of throw away wood scraps I had around to make colorful plant stakes. I stuck them into the ground where my new rose bushes were just taking off. They added such pretty colors and lots of conversation interest for my friends and neighbors! Look everyone! Blooming Bonnets!

I put these out last Spring and they lasted til Fall through rain and shine. I did bring them inside for Winter and have already put them back out for the Spring again. Everyone loves them! I did spray them with clear acrylic spray sometime in the summer just to perserve them so perhaps that has helped them last.

C U T E ! ! ! If you could waterproof them you could let them cover your seedpacks as their faces on the sticks? I'll bet you could Scotchguard them L I G H T L Y and it would work? Keep that craftiness goin'.

I LOVE THAT IDEA....I THINK I WILL USE THAT IDEA IN MY GARDEN WAGON; IN THE SPRING NEAR EASTER, I WILL PUT MY "EASTER BONNET" PARADE IN MY WAGON. WE CAN'T PLANT ANNUALS UNTIL AFTER EASTER SO I WILL HAVE THE WAGON READY WITH THE POTS AND WILL PUT THE EASTER BONNETS AND OTHER WHIMSICAL ITEMS TO REFLECT THE UPCOMING SPRING SEASON.
I COULD ALSO USE THIS IDEA IN MY FRONT YARD ROCK GARDEN WATER FEATURE.
