Well, I have to add this! I just cleaned my toilette bowls with The Works. Wow! The goose neck one. All of the black gunk under the rim that I have been scrubbing so hard practically melted off! This stuff is the best thing I have ever used!

Hello Sandy,
We all have been subject to the product ads. You have received a lot of good suggestions. The one thing to remember if you are trying to clean someone elses old dirt or something that is old and worn, no matter what you use requires a lot of elbow grease or if it worn, nothing will make it brand new.

OOps, one more thing. Clorox spray also works wonders in your stainless steel sinks. Spray it on, wait two minutes, wipe with your scrubby sponge, and flush it down. Then I use Windex on the faucets to shine them up, using a paper towel.

I use Windex WITH vinegar (no ammonia) EVERYWHERE (really is vinegar & alcohol, but I found it at one store for dirt cheap, and even used it on the carpet to my pleasure!), then clorox wipes for weekly disinfection and as needed on toilets and kitchen; Murphy's oil soap for the linoleum and wood/greasy messes; scrubbing bubbles for the toilets (the pads you flush, because I have a snoopy two year old and hate the leaky bottles.)The original scrubbing bubbles is great for soap scum, too, but the Windex/Vinegar is a good one. Arm&Hammer makes a shower spray that works wonderful, too...IF you remember to spray all the time!

On carpet I use Folex (at walmart) or the Windex in a pinch. The folex works great on my furniture, too.

I stock up whenever things are on sale and use half the reccomended amount.

If I could choose just one, it would be Glass Plus. Good in the kitchen and in the bath.

Also would not like to be without ammonia, Clorox and white vinegar and baking soda.

I agree The Works is great for taking off hard water deposits.

Barkeeper's Friend is very good for cleaning glass stove tops.

Greased Lightening is a good all purpose cleaner. A professional cleaner quoted in an article I read said that if she could only use one product, that would be it.

For pet accidents, any cleaner that has enzymes is good. I buy it wherever I find it cheap.

Thanks to everyone who answered regarding cleaning materials. However, I am most interested in commercial products that are already mixed; such as Fantastic and Tilex. I have medical problems that prevent me from using a lot of Elbow Grease.

Does anyone have any input on commercial products.

Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda, are all natural cleaners! try them and see how you like it.

Shaklee's cleaning products are awesome!! I have seven children and about to birth my eighth any day now. My kids can all help clean and I don't have to worry about the little ones getting into the cleaners and ending up in the hospital. They are concentrated, biodegradable, and really work. Plus, our septic tank has not had to be pumped in 14 years! Check them out on the web.

I only use my steam cleaner and tap water. My daughter has bad allergies, and my scuncii steamer removes soap scum from my showers, as well as cleans the inside of the refrigerator without me having to worry about chemicals around the food. Plus it saves me alot of money because I can clean all the surfaces in my house without spending a dime on cleaners. I wouldn't be without it.

i use white vinegar to mop my vinyl floors b/c it is a natural disinfectant; i use amonia to clean greasy spills on the stove; i use bleach to clean the laminate kitchen counters and bathroom sink, counter, toilet tub and shower curtain. all of these purchased at the dollar store...i use full strength, in spray bottles again purchased at the dollar stored. the only commercial product i buy is Dollar General Brand soap scum remover for $1 per bottle, and dollar general brand liquid dishsoap (which i dilute 4x with water before using). i make my own homemade dishwasher and laundry detergent.

For the bathroom I love a product called "The Works". Tried a product called "Johnny Fresh" but is the worse product I have ever purchased. I took all of the unused bottles back to the store and got "The Works". These can be found at the Dollar Tree for $1 a bottle. They make bathtub and toilet bowl cleaners.

The one thing I would not be without for cleaning is the Magic Eraser. I keep one in the shower/tub and before I get out of the shower I wipe the tub and walls down with it. Then once a week I will disinfect with a bleach & water salution. I also keep the magic erasers in the kitchen and it gets just about every kind of mark off the floor, counter, fridge, you name it. And for the bathroom I use plain old rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball everyday to wipe down the toilet & faucets. Keeps germs at bay inbetween cleaning! Windex and Fantastic Antibacterial is just about all I use for most cleanings. FOr my laminate floor I mop with Lysol (pourable) lemon scent and it makes the whole house smell fresh.

Boy , there are a lot of ideas out there!!! I have tried a lot of cleaners,but keep coming back to my favorites. I use Fantastic for just about everything, including floors. It's a wonderful degreaser, as well. I use Windex for glass and mirrors. For the bathroom, Tilex Scum remover works great. If you clean your tub/shower really well then use a product called Shower Shine after each shower You will barely have to clean the shower ever again. Windex also keeps the faucets nice and shiney. Thanks all for your suggestions. As I don't seem to tolerate the vineger scent very well, I was hoping to find a ready made product that I could purchase. Especially for the kitchen with antibacterial functions.

I only use "Simple Green" in my home. It is non-toxic and although it may seem expensive initially, you only need a small amount and dilute it with water. It cleans everything, and I wouldn't be without it.

Hi Sandy - the finest cleaner for degreasing (as well as a stain remover for laundry) is without a doubt Krud Kutter which is available at Home Depot. It can be diluted to a strength you need for kitchen cupboards /and anything else you can think of. I cannot live without it and I also take it to my friends in Canada as they love it too. (After the big hug hello is always.... "did you bring any Krud Kutter??)

I use only one brand named product, Awesome, from the Dollar Tree stores. My actual favorite products are baking soda, salt and vinegar...occasionally I add a little alcohol or peroxide to the vinegar/water mixture for hard to shine glass. Baking soda alone cleans sinks, tubs, countertops, and appliances. Add a little salt to that and a few drops of water to make a paste for some serious scrubbing of tough stuff. 1:1 vinegar and water is perfect for mopping any kind of flooring - I use it on my laminate floors. For furniture polish: spritz a cloth with warm water and polish as usual. If you must use oil, use a dab of olive oil. You may never have to worry about brand products again...I certainly don't!

For tough grease in the kitchen I use greased lighting, but on a regular bases I use the New Clorax floor and surface cleaner.
You talk about smelling clean, oh man it's wonderful, I love that clean smell.

Bathrooms: Best for bathrooms is The Works. Can be bought at Dollar General for a dollar. Cleans soap scum like you wouldn't believe. Spray on, wait about 5-10 seconds and wash off with wet cloth. Rinse with water.

Kitchens: Best for kitchens is Barkeepers Friend. Cleans stainless steel, copper, sinks, etc.

I use Bleach on my floors and countertops and a mix of Bleach and Scouring cleansers on my tubs, toilet and sinks.. and believe it or not! A used dryer sheet, will bring up the soap scum in sinks and tubs and walls etc.. yes a used dryer sheet! I have used it and it works! No cleanser nothing just a dryer sheet dry and dry bathtub and sink! Works wonders!
Then I disinfect it lol

Enjo or the generic brands do a fabulous job and you only have to use water. The bath at my daughters rental place was DISGUSTING but a bit of elbow grease and the bath mit created a whole new bath.
