Coffee Filters for Potted Plants

Use coffee filters in the bottom of flower pots to keep soil from running out when watered. I use several in mine since they do decompose over time, but by then the roots should be holding in most of the dirt or its time for you to replant anyway.

I have read that it is best to use the brown paper filters, as the white ones have been bleached and as they decompose the bleach leaks out into the soil.

Great idea! I also use shredded newspaper which also disintergrates over time.
