Mysterious Stains on Laundry

Please help. All of the suggestions for how to clean stains from clothing are wonderful, but I'm trying to solve the mystery of what is causing stains on my laundry.

My washing machine is only about 3 years old. Lately, every time I do a load of shirts, the colored ones come out with stains on them that they did not have originally. This is not occurring with my whites. I switched to clear liquid ALL, stopped using softener and the colors are still coming out with stains.

Are they red rust stains? Those showed up on my whites & when I removed the bleach dispenser on the side, there were 3 rust spots. I lightly sanded them down, then I applied some dishwasher rack repair paint, let it dry, completely wiped all the rust "shavings" with an old towel. lastly running it through a cycle alone.
Rust spots can be removed from clothing by saturating them with lemon juice & laying them in the sum with a paper towel, repeat if necessary. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

RE: Mysterious Stains on Laundry

In order to know what this might be, you must tell us the color of the stains, the size, and on what type of clothing they are on.

It could be something in the washer.
It could be something spilling on the clothes when you are wearing them, and not showing up until it is washed.
It could be some sort of acne product bleaching out the clothes.
Or something else.

RE: Mysterious Stains on Laundry

Perhaps you have a rust spot inside the washer? Though that would show up on the whites. Unless you use bleach or other whiteners for the whites.
