Re-Dying Eyebrows

I am a natural redhead with very light blonde eyebrows so I dye them. I tried a different brand today and now they look awful. The color is horrible, (a bright fake red) and they look dyed. They stand out like a sore thumb and I look hideous. Any suggestions on what I should do? I have tried many of the suggestions I read that others wrote for removing hair dye from skin but so far, nothing has worked! HELP! Should I redye them, and if so, what color? (Darker or lighter?) Thanks!

I use Majirel Hair Dye. You can get it on Ebay. Use a 10 vol developer. Mix in equal parts. Mix and put on brows for 10 minutes with a mascara brush.

1st, strip the color out by using Baby Shampoo! Leave this in for 5 minutes and then carefully rinse or wipe off with a damp washcloth.

2nd, instead of dying or penciling in my blonde eyebrows, I use a wide bristled lip brush and some non-glittery eye shadow. Tap the color or color-blend of your choice (I use 2 shades of soft brown) onto your eyebrow and then brush lightly along the entire brow to blend. It looks much more natural and is easy to do! Sally Beauty Supply even has an eyebrow stencil you can get if you need help keeping a steady hand. Rub off any stray color with a Qtip.

I know this sounds weird, but I use Just for Men beard and mustache dye. It works very quickly and looks very natural (I am a redhead). Try to light brown or medium brown.

YES I KNOW it says "never ever use on your eyebrows" but just be smart and careful. It's a fairly thick mixture so it shouldn't run into your eyes one bit.

Hi fellow Redhead, I have the same invisible blonde eyebrows. I went to a site called Just For Redheads and bought mascaras in nice colors, and that's what I use to make my eyebrows match my hair. Mascara shows the individual hairs, unlike eyebrow pencil, so it looks the most like you have naturally nice eyebrows. Nothing could make me put hair dye 1/2" from my eyes!! Check out that site.

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

Any hair dye that I have ever used has had a warning NOT to dye anything other than the hair on your head.

I agree that you should just keep them natural and as far as changing the color, maybe you can use an eyebrow pencil until the color washes out.

Hey Girl, use hair color developer to open the cuticle of the hair shaft and allow the color to exit the hairshaft. Then shampoo and rinse 20 volume at Sallys (careful of eyeballs!) Use a Q-tip, You can not go wrong with TAUPE color, it is an ash blonde. LIGHT, MED. Dark

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

Just out of curiosity, what do you usually use to dye them? I also have very light brows and would LOVE to try this, I didn't know you could.

BTW, if you try to lighten them now they will get brassy (remember the peroxide blondes of the 80's?) Try going darker just a little at a time, Good luck.

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

Try adding baking soda in with your shampoo and wash your eyebrows. It works when you dye your hair and the color is too dark/bright. Good Luck!

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

Okay, so maybe this is a man's point of view, BUT I have naturally bright red hair, but my facial and visible body hair is blond. For the first time in my life, I have a mustache, which of course is 1000 shades lighter than the hair on my head. I'm afraid to dye my mustache since everyone who knows me know it's a dye job, so I just leave it as it is! So what if my mustache and your eyebrows don't match our hair! There are too few natural redheads among us; anyone who makes comments about it is jealous!

Use hair bleach to remove dye. Use your mascara to recolor your eyebrows until you're happy with the result.

Wash them with dish detergent - my hairdresser left my color on too long, and that's what she used to get a lot of the color out.

For future, go to Beauty supply - I go to Sally's - and get Waterworks haircolor. It's a powder you mix with water. You can get the red and a light brown and make your own color. Because it's powder, you can make up as much as you need, and if you have two colors, you can adjust the color. Good luck!

School theatrical teachers used to tell the kids to use Head and Shoulders shampoo to remove the hair color they sometimes had to use in their productions. It's worth a try!

I'm sorry that I'm not much help. In the future you shouldn't color your eyebrows because if hair dye ever gets into your eyes it could cause blindness.

No matter what you pick to dye them, until you get them the way you like to be seen, can you cover them with your bangs? Just an idea.

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

I have reddish brown hair and I usually color my eyebrows as well. There have been times that my skin underneath has turned bright red but the brow is actually pretty close to what I want. Usually within a few days the color on the skin is gone. Sometimes make-up or eye-make-up remover helps but usually just time. I usually do it on a Friday night so I have all weekend to hope it goes away! Good luck!

RE: Re-Dying Eyebrows

Don't think you have any choice but to re-dye them a light brown - You could try just using strong coffee & see how that comes out - and then cover up the color with brow pencil or powder until it grows out.
