Double Knotting Laces

I often take care of a little girl with a profound learning disability. When she wears tennis shoes with laces she hates to have them double-knotted. Her latest pair of tennis shoes has a "2" embroidered at the top of the tongue. So I told her that the "2" meant that those shoe laces had to be double-knotted. She still doesn't like it but she accepts her laces being double-knotted.

RE: Double Knotting Laces

Our children both have delays and I always double-knot their laces....they don't seem to care one way or another. I do it because too many times their shoes come untied and with the double-knot it doesn't.

It sounds like you are a caring person, Carole and genuinely concerned for this child's safety. Caring is "respectful". Thank you for your "positive" post. I wish everyone was as sweet :)

RE: Double Knotting Laces

Instead of double-knotting, use a butterfly knot (two loops, then crossed over) and cinch the knot tight.
