Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenGeorge from Lakewood, CO Feedback About This Post:RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenThank you all for your help. I am going to go get some paint chips and try them out on a small scale in the room. You have all given me great choices! I'll post again when I pick the color. THANK YOU ALL! I'd use a lighter shade of the sage green for the living room. That way the two rooms with tie together nicely and your house will look bigger. The tan sofa, green walls, and floors will go nicely together. Post By Carol in PA (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenMys sisters and I just painted my Mom's living room and kitchen sage and we used a soft butter yellow in the bedroom which is right off the kitchen. Works very well, especially if your room is small. I used the deep cranberry in a small room and, though the color was beautiful and matched the accessories, it made the room appear much smaller and darker. However, my sister has a large living room and the cranberry work very well on a couple of walls. Have you considered layering colors? We have a sage kitchen and our living room is open to it with the walls painted a deep eggplant purple. We LOVE it. It is personal taste. Good luck! Would love to know which color you do choose. Post By Mary (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage Kitchen
Most of the ideas I just read are good but it depends on how much natural light your house has. If it is too dark then you will likely grow tired and depressed w/ the dark reds but on the other hand if it is well lit w/ nat. light I would say go for it. I also think that caramel's, mocha's and cream's would go great w/ sage. Again, go to the paint stores and play w/ the paint chips 'till you see what you like. Post By Jan (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenI would go with a very pale gold that would accent the sage and the furniture. If you wanted to go with a darker color I would do a shade of red. Post By Mythi (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenWe just painted our living room a beautiful green, oak harbor green I believe is the name and we got it at Lowe's. It is a nice dark woodsy green and goes great with our dark trim and hardwood floors. Our furniture is beige and all wood tables and we absolutely love it! Get complimets all the time and I think you would too! Post By Stephanie (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenI would go with a dark berry red. It is in! A very deep red is complimentary to sage, beige and off white. Good Luck! Post By JONI (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenWe painted our kitchen last Christmas sage. Over the summer we painted our den, which can be seen from the kitchen, cranberry. Cranberry walls with a light tan ceiling. Ralph Lauren as paint chips with rooms painted these colors. Go to your near by Lowes paint dept. to see the chips. Anyway, my family loves the new den and kitchen. Hope this helps. Post By Jean in GA (Guest Post) RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenI think sage or a a lighter version of the same green you have in the kitchen. Post by Debbie52 RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenI would go with a deep red -- something in the vermilion or maroon area. Would be a nice foil to the sage. Post by chretienne RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenThis is a matter of personal preference, but I like stark contrasts. I have a sage type green in my den, and the adjacent kitchen is a bold apricot orange. The orange really turned out darker than I intended (as it always does!) but we've grown to love it. People always comment on how nice it looks, but I know that some think it is too bold. We painted the built-in bookcase in the den an ivory color, and it looks great against the sage green too. You could also do some sort of mango or yellow color. Green goes well with many colors. Post by frontierrog RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenMartyD's idea is good, ivory would be pretty too. Post by perfume and powder RE: Painting Living Room to Compliment Sage KitchenI'm thinking a lighter shade but still in the sage spectrum. Post by MartyD |
