A Cure for Hiccups?- 1 teaspoon vinegar - 1 cup warm water Mix together and drink. Sure beats having someone try to scare them out of you, if it works. :-) Feedback About This Post:RE: A Cure for Hiccups? When I have the hiccups, I usually hold my breath or nose for 10 seconds and when I let go of my nose, the hiccups are usually gone! This is a trick that I learned in college and I have passed it onto many other people with great success. Take a glass of water and put in a butter knife. Drink the water all at once, with the knife flat on your forehead (while it is still in the glass). Post by jess RE: A Cure for Hiccups?ive got two tips which always work for me: drink a glass of very fizzy lemonade, or a glass of neat vinegar (drink them down in one go without stopping. works every time. jane Post By Enter your name. wow - lots of tips, my mother is a nurse, so she is explained the how/why of hiccups and the best (easy) way to get rid of them. Get a big glass of water and drink as much as you can with out breathing through your nose. Just drink drink drink, no breathing, and presto, all gone. I like some of the other tips, but they just arent practical. Pickle juice? what if you are at work...or being held upside down... I bet they work, but I like the easier one. enjoy Post by mkneib86 Cure for HiccupsHiccups can be stopped by putting a frozen mug or ice pack on either side of your neck (main artery). The hiccups are gone immediately, and the only thing you need is water. Post By Cindy (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?
This cure, which has always worked for me, I learned at a church retreat. Post by jlxian Hiccup Remedy
Many years ago I was at work and had the hiccups. A co-worker got a paper towel and glass of water and told me to drink the water THROUGH the paper towel. It really works and I have used that hint ever since. Only takes a few sips to work. Try it next time. Post by ThriftyFun RE: A Cure for Hiccups? If you have a strong friend, have them hold you upside down by your ankles for 1 minute. It works. I have tried the drinking water, suger, peanut butter, none of that works for me. I did also fing that holding your breathe like someone else mentioned really does work. Hold it till you can't anymore, they are gone. Post By Jenny (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?
Just think about the last time you saw that white horse. Post by snapdragon RE: A Cure for Hiccups?Recently I had a bout with hiccups before going to bed (that's what I get for eating in bed) and I read somewhere about focussing on the next hiccup coming and it wouldn't come. Well I did, and it didn't. This has worked twice for me! Post by eCarolc RE: A Cure for Hiccups?
Many years ago I had a 6th grade teacher who used the 'scare' method and it always worked. I wondered for years how that could possibly work and it finally dawned on me... the only way is if hiccups were mentally triggered. Post by Alph Cure for Hiccups
I have tried this many time and it has worked every time. Take a large zip of water bend over forward (your forehead facing the front on your knees/legs, or if you are sitting down head between your legs) and swallow, repeat a couple of times if needed. Post by ThriftyFun Peanut Butter for Hiccups
I am 55 years old and have always had hiccups quite often. My mom also used to have them when she was younger. She's had them so bad that she actually had to be sedated once when she had them for several days. We both have tried every remedy we had ever heard of; head between our legs, breathing into a paper bag, taking sips from the outer edge of a glass, a spoonful of sugar, etc. but all to no avail. Post by ThriftyFun RE: A Cure for Hiccups?I always just eat a spoonful of something super sweet, i.e. sugar, jelly, candy. Works for me. Post By MB in WY (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups? Here's one I know you haven't used but works for me- Hold your breath, turn up your face to the sky and think about a cow in a swimsuit. There now isn't that the most ridiculous suggestion in the world! The sheer stupidity of this thought when I have the hiccups stops them dead. Strange but true. Just like me ;) Post by Suzanne S. RE: A Cure for Hiccups? There is an acupuncture point (nerve ending) called LI 10 on the arm just down from the elbow. You should look it up on an acupuncture chart for the exact spot. If you rub this point hard toward the hand it will alleviate hiccups every time. Post By Angela (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?I used to get the hiccups all the time growing up. What worked every time was drinking water from the far side of the cup. Basically, in order to do so, you have to lean forward and drink with your head almost upside down. It didn't take much water, but it did require a little coordination! For some reason, it cured my hiccups right away. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?Eating a tsp. of sugar works. Also grab under your throat on the neck and hold for a few seconds - that works too. Post by toni k. RE: A Cure for Hiccups?Using your hands, plug your ears and both nostrils, then drink water or any liquid from a glass or using a straw. Never fails to work... Post By hwalz (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?Try rubbing the back of your ear with your thumb. It sounds dumb but it works. Post By Karen (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups? Many years ago I was in a bar with the hiccups and the bartender gave me a shot of lemon juice. Much to my amazement it worked. My kids and I still use this method. Post By Beth (Guest Post) RE: A Cure for Hiccups?Plug your ears with cotton. Then while holding your nose closed, take a drink of water. It works every time. Post by ThriftyFun RE: A Cure for Hiccups?I've heard that a spoonful of sugar works, but a spoonful of peanut butter is what I always use. My kids love making their hiccups go away with this too!
