Drapery Rod Finails Ideas

Does anyone have crafty ideas for drapery rod finails instead of the bought ones?

Thanks!

I work in a hardware store and frugal women are always asking for door knobs to use as finials. there are usually very inexpensive and the wooden ones easy to paint.

Depending an where the draperies are to hang and the decor they need to fit into, there are a lot of ideas in dollar stores. Mini disco balls come to mind, nice and sparkly. You also might consider door knobs from a recycle store, especially glass ones. Even bedknobs from old bedsteads, especially wrought iron.

I used deer antlers in my husbands hunting room. I took small antlers, drilled holes and attached to a board. Then I used clear sealer. You need 2 single and one double for the center. Use a fabric that drapes pretty, no sewing and cute.

I have used silk flower nosegays that I made, also for kids rooms use small , toy type sports equip(plastic football, baseball, etc) toy boat, doll or doll accessory, or even something you collect like cats, lighthouses, stuffed animal. etc. Attach to ends of rods with fishing line, wire, screws, etc. You are only limited by your imagination!

I purchased matching wooden birdhouses at the dollar store to use as drapery rod finials. They looked great in our down-home country themed family room. Hope this idea lends some inspiration for you.
