Instead of throwing away the selvage edges you cut off fabric, use them to make items such as The Selvage Queen Teddy Bear. There are many other items you can make -- quilt blocks, tote bags, quilt borders, just use your imagination.

Yes, Last year I posted a tip about using the selvage edge of stretch fabrics to make a fun cat toy. I just save up all the scraps until I end up with 10 or so, then I tie one of the longer ones around the rest. I then swing this new bundle of scraps back & forth, swinging it higher & higher until Smokey jumps up & grabs it & I can see his soft little fuzzy belly.

Selvage edges also work great to hold spools of novelty yarn together. If you tie a piece of selvage edge around your hank or spool of yarn, you'll not have a tangle of spaghetti-like mess in your yarn bag.
