Finding Donations for the Troops

I am the new FRG Leader for the Charlie Co. of 1-82 ARB in Ft. Bragg, NC. I was wondering if anyone had any idea about which companies donate to troops going overseas? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Finding Donations for the Troops

I'm sorry I don't know companies that can help. I make greeting cards and send them to soldiers in Iraq. Soldiers can sign up on AnySoldier.com and then Americans or anyone can get the address and see what they need. Soldiers love to get cards or anything people want to send. I don't personally know any soldiers serving now, but I get names of people from my state or with my last name or my maiden name. One time I saw this person who had the same name as my father and sent him a letter. They usually respond if they have time. Usually the person listed is in charge of the packages, etc. received and passes them on to soldiers who don't receive much mail. The entries the soldiers make on anysoldier.com are very interesting to read. Postage for letters is the same as mailing anywhere in the USA.

So you could make soldiers either over there now or going over aware of the anysoldier.com site and they might receive more attention. Sometimes schools, churches, companies or community groups will pick a group of soldiers to support.

Good luck with your efforts. God bless our soldiers everywhere.

RE: Finding Donations for the Troops

I belong to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans which is a financial services membership organization. Every year we do a program called "Join Hands Day" where we collect items from the area Lutheran churches, pack them up and send them to our service people overseas. We also take monies that has been dontated to buy phone cards that have a "local" number to call so that the minutes are not used as "international" minutes. As far a I know this is done everywhere there is a Lutheran church. You might want to contact other churches for assistance.
