Garden: Butterflies To Be

 Butterflies To Be
Butterflies To Be
I plant tons of milkweed which is my host plant and it attracts many butterflies to my yard here in Florida. Several times a year I get their offspring. Here on December 14th, I have probably 15 of these magnificent caterpillars on one plant alone, all soon to be butterflies.

I love this-thank you for sending the pictures. I bought a butterfly kit and have been reading up on the plants to grow in my yard. Looks like you are having success with the milkweed-when I lived in Iowa these were the weeds you DID NOT want to have!

Don't they eat your tomatoes?

Wow, those caterpillars are biggies, very healthy on your milkweed juice.

I took this picture the day before the Butterfly emerged, I thought it would take a few days once the chrysalis became translucent; I was really surprised to see the perfect tiny little wings of the butterfly in the cocoon.

Very cool, I've been trying to find milkweed seeds so I can plant some so the Monarch's will stop by for a longer time here in Michigan.
