What is this bug? (Japanese Beetle)

What bug that looks like a small black fly with a red underside eats hibiscus plants? What kills them?

It sounds like a Japanese Beetle, they love hibiscus. You can buy traps that hang in trees but they seem to attract more of them to the area. Your best bet is to just hit them with hard stream of water from your hosepipe. I try not to use chemicals so thats I do.
