Natural Food Colors for IcingsI recently made a green cake for my son's second birthday! I have a juicer and I just use juices in my icings to colour them. Beetroot juice for pink/red Spinach juice for green and Carrot juice for yellow. They are brilliant! Camilla Berry (Sussex, England) Feedback About This Post:RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsDoes anywone know how you would get a red color? - I think beets but they have very strong flavor. Post by mariebal RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsExcellent Options. Do yo know how to create a blue color that's all natural? Post By Angela Stephens (Guest Post) RE: Natural Food Colors for Icings
You can't taste the spinach in the icing, or the beetroot or carrot. None of my family realised it wasn't ordinary food colouring from a bottle - they were really suprised when I told them it was vegetable color! Post by Cammyhen RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsHow do you add them to the other ingedients? I don't have a juicer. Post By Jan, NC (Guest Post) RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsI wonder about the veggie taste too; but boy, this is a great idea! So many people (including me) are allergic to the artificial colorings. So clever of you! Post by Lynn from Calif. RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsWhat can I use for BROWN -like adding cocoa in whole wheat bread or what should i use? Post By Eloise Gulick (Guest Post) RE: Natural Food Colors for IcingsI think this is a great idea - but wouldn't there be a taste involved with using these, spinach for example? Or is the amount used to color minimal and no extra flavoring is detected?! Post by Melissa W. |
