You could also make a racetrack cake and use a couple of the small cars on it. To make this cake you bake a 9X13 cake. After it cools, lay an 8" plate on half of the cake and cut around about 3/4 of it with a sharp knife. Then lay the plate on the other half of the cake and cut around it again. Discard the scraps. This should make a racetrack in the shap of an "8". Post By Jeanne from MN (Guest Post) RE: Making a Cake in the Shape of a CarMake a template with cardboard in the shape of a car. You could also cut out where the side windows are (don't cut all of the cake out of the hole...leave some as a base) then make some blue jell-o using only half of the water needed, like for jigglers, pour into the "windows" and refrigerate until set. Then frost the rest of the cake with car design. Post by truleelee RE: Making a Cake in the Shape of a Car
My name is Margaret and I live in Denton, Texas. I have a couple of books of cut up party cakes. I have found (in them) a couple of pictures and instructions on making car cakes. If you trust me with your address I would be more than happy to mail you copies. Let me know. My e-mail address is: margarett (at) juno (dot) com Post by matjat RE: Making a Cake in the Shape of a CarThe easiest? Buy the Wilton car pan. Don't know if this would help you or not, but I remember years back there was an episode of Reading Rainbow where they made a sportscar cake. Of course the guy doing it was a professional and had all kinds of tools (like an airbrush), but I bet you could make a pretty good car if you wanted to. I think they made a triple layer cake, then cut away parts off the "block" to make the car shape. Post By Molly (Guest Post) |
