What I do is put up a couple of shower curtain rods IN your shower/bathtub high enough so you don't bump your head on them and hang not only towels on them but other items like shampoo bottles that have a hook type of handle on them or spray bottles or if you put the rods close enough together you allow for other items to be stored there like-- slip the long handle to your back washer "loof thing" and hang it that way. Washcloths as well. Hang your non slip rubber bath matte to air out so it won't mold.
Pretty much anything that will hang or with a long handle that can slip in between the rods will work.

We have our bath mat hanging on a plastic clip type hanger which we saved from a new pants purchase. It is stronger than the clothespin type, has metal clips that slide up/down to fasten or release garment. When we need to use it we just put in on the floor, hanger & all. Then after the shower, just hang it again to dry. Also great in summer for kids' wet towels, clothing, swimsuits, etc. Takes much less space to dry them.
