Our grill also stopped working. We were expecting to find a blown thermal fuse as "royal engineer" did, and were already equipped with a set of security bits to take the thing apart. But it wasn't that. It turned out to be a bad solder job on the circuit board. My husband has mad soldering skillz and fixed the problem. But we found water around the circuit board, from washing the grill surface - it is such a crappy design, with non-removable grill plates, so I dare say something else will go wrong.
It was great not to have to buy a new grill or order parts, no thanks to the poor design of the thing. Meh.

inside the grill there is a small thermal fuse on the brown (live) wire and when this overheats inside the grill, it pops and breaks the circuit, unfortunately its a 'one use' piece of electronics. thermal fuses are easy to acquire from electronic wholesalers, the only problem is getting TO the fuse to replace it. GF grills use a variety of tamper resistant TORX screws, without the security TORX driver its very hard to open. if you get into it, simply replace the thermal fuse with another with a temp of 240c here's a website for them. http://www.tdspares.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=tht1025

Thank you everyone for all your helpful information and feedback! I also needed to contact the manufacturer of the George Foreman Grill as I needed to get a replacement part after breaking the latch off the lid. The replacement part and shipping came to something like $14.95 (a little steep for such a tiny little plastic part, but worth the inconvenience of not having the part). Since there was so much conflicting information here on how to contact the manufacturer, I asked the representative how people can reach them since there are so many people here who have the need. Here is what she gave me:

Customer Service was very helpful and friendly. Hold time was a little long, but not nearly as long as some I've had. Though I was 16th in line, I am sure the wait was no more than 4-5 minutes total.
They do need the Model Number off the bottom of the grill, so be prepared to give them this. (It is something you can get while on hold -lol)

Dump Cake for the HOLIDAYs!
Use 2 cans Apple Pie filling
1 box gingerbread cake mix
top with butter or 12 oz can of soda
bake 350 1 hour
Top with whip cream or ice cream
Very rich!

I bought the George Foreman GGR62 and got about six months of use out of it. One day the power cord started smoking and the unit never worked again. So, I figured I'd buy another one because it's a great cooking utensil. Bought another and experience the same problem after about 7 or 8 months of use. I'm quite upset about this because I bought two units within less than two years. I didn't get anywhere near my monies worth. I'm going to attempt to contact the manufacturer and just hope that they will make some sort of concession.

I'm on my second George Forman My first one the outside surface bubble up and the surface started coming off, now the same is happening to this one. I'm not impressed.

We call it a "Dump Cake" in the deep south.
(In a 1 quart baking dish at 350F)
Dump in: 1 can Pie Filling
1 can drained crushed pineapple (If you like!)
Mix together.
Dump in: 1/2 box yellow cake mix a spread it evenly.
(or 1 box Jiffy Cake Mix)
Cover top completely with pats of butter.
Bake for 30 min's. or until the top is crumbly & brown.
This is my daughters favorite!

I make a pumpkin cobbler using 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. ginger, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 3 beaten eggs, 1 cup brown sugar, 12 oz. can evaporated milk, 16 oz. can pumpkin, put into a lightly buttered 9x13 inch cake pan. Sprinkle a yellow cake mix over the top of the pie filling. Melt a stick of margarine and drizzle over the top of the cake mix. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes. Add chopped nuts the last 20 minutes if desired.

We did this with the following ingredients:
one box yellow cake mix
one 12 oz can lemon lime soda
2 cans pie filling
Spread the pie filling in a 13X9 pan, mix white cake mix and soda together ( will fizz up a bit). Pour the mix all over the pie filling. Bake for 30 minutes in 350 degree oven. You can change it up a bit with different flavors of soda. It can't be any easier than this!

Lightly spray an 11x13x2 baking dish. Spread 2 cans of Comstock pie filling - your choice, they are all out of this world - Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Evenly spread with yellow cake mix (dry). Drizzle 5 3/4 can of evaporated milk over top. Drizzle one melted stick of margarine or butter evenly over top. Bake 45 minutes at 375 degrees. I got this from Connie on Thrifty Fun.com and it is fabulous. Every time we go to the beach for a cookout, everyone said have Sylvia bring cobbler please.

I make a cobbler that I call Campfire cobbler. But I make mine with fresh blackberries. I suppose you can make it with any pie filling. I also make it in my Dutch Oven. But I have made it in a 13 inch rectangle cake pan (glass)
First you run some butter around the inside of pan, then put berries or pie filling in. Pour dry (white or yellow) cake mix on top. Then pour 1 can of clear soda such as lemon-lime,7-up or sprite on top of that. Run a spoon or knife around in it until mixed. But only the top do not mix the berries up in it.
Bake at 425 for 30-35 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
If cooking in Duch Oven at camp. Put 10-15 charcole brickets under and about 10-15 on top and cook for about an hour.
It is the only cobbler my family will eat and the other campers look forward to me making it. I love to share it.

I use a square glass baking dish and add two cans of pie filling, 1/2 box of white or yellow dry cake mix and 3/4 stick of melted margarine poured over the top of the cake mix. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
I make blueberry and cherry cobblers using this recipe and it's always good when hot and served with ice cream.

Pour a can of pie filling (any flavor) and a can of crushed pineapple on the bottom of a 9x13 pan, cover with a dry white cake mix, then cut a stick of butter into pats, and put that on the top. Bake at 350 for 20 - 25 min

1-800-231-9786 is George Foreman Grill Customer Service. Press 1 for English, 2 for French. Then press 5 for "all other callers"... have approximate day of purchase, model number, date code on bottom of unit. An agent will not be able to assist you otherwise.

While this product has worked well for several years it has now failed and requires a replacement thermal fuse. Trying to contact the sulton company to find the replacement part or its value is nothing. This is a throw away unit and a do not buy.

You can purchase the scouring pad/sponges at Target. They even say on the package George Foreman Grill sponges. I believe I saw them with the George Foreman Grills but I can't remember it has been was sometime ago that I saw them there. I hope this helps.

I have a George Foreman, ( this is my 4th one ) with the removable plates. In the box was a type of scouring pad, with sponge on one side with a nylon scouring part on the other side. It was shaped with ridges, so that it would fit perfectly between the ridges of the grills. I am in dire need of finding out where I can purchase this type of scouring pad. I need it as soon as possible. please responde

I received a 10th anniversary GF Grill family size last year as a Mothers Day gift. It has worked perfectly up until a month ago. It is in great physical condition. I used it at least 2 or 3 times and it has stopped working. I am really dissapointed in this product. I still have an old grill from about 6 or 7 years ago that still works. It is less than a year old and was purchased from Macys Dept store for $80.00. Is there anything i can do to get a replacement grill. I have no box or receipt. What can i do?
Editor's Note: You can always try taking it back to Macy's. They used to have a good return policy, you may only get store credit but it is worth a try.

The manufacturer of the George Foreman Grill is Salton, Inc. Their website is esalton.com. On the lefthand side of the Home Page is a list of brands. Just click on George Foreman and up comes several pages of grills. Also, in blue at the very top of the page is a link called 'Owners Central'. Click on this to download an owner's manual or to register your grill. I have found however, they don't have discontinued models owner's manuals.
On this website they also show their phone number as 1-866-eSalton.

Solution on getting a working grill
I also have a problem with the top plate not heating up. I called and they do not repair out of warranty grills. I noticed in an online GF manual, that one of the very expensive models offers Out-Of-Warranty Repair. I mentioned this to the lady on the phone and she said that there is something where I can send the broken grill in for replacement which would cost half the price of a brand new grill. I figure I would give this a shot as a repair would cost a good amount of money anyway and I am still better off then buying a full priced item. Call 800-233-9054 and ask for what I just explained above because they will not offer this to you unless you ask.

I LOVE COOKING ON THE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL BUT MINE IS A VERY OLD MODEL AND IT HAS THE BUNN WARMER ON THE TOP AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM AND I WAS WONDERING IF I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG. THE PLASTIC BUNN WARMER LID WILL AND NEVER HAS STAYED LOCKED, THEREFOR I DO NOT USE IT AS OFTEN AS I WOULD LIKE TO. IT IS SUCH A PROBLEM. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER ONE AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU CAN HELP ME. IT SURE IS A GREAT WAY TO COOK HEALTHY. If I were you, I would try contacting the stores that sell them and explain to them the problem you're having. More than likely they will have an address or phone number for you.
Also.....If anyone has an owners manual that you could email me, that would be terrific. I am also having much difficulty finding a site where it offers the manual. I would like to share a wonderful recipe contribution for the George Forman Grill. I used the large grilling indoor machine at a friend's house for French Toast. I bought a large Challah unsliced (traditional Jewish Egg Bread) and beat 4 eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, 1tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla and 6 slices of 1 1/2 inch bread. Combine all ingredients, soak bread and put on grill till brown....about 10 min. I have served it for breakfast about 10 times and everyone loved it. I would appreciate it if you would inform George Forman when he compiles new recipes. Thank You

replacing the drip tray
Have a George Foremean Grill MOdel NoGR10A. The drip tray dropped down on the dishwasher coils and melted through. I would like to know how and where to obtain another drip try.
