Fixing a Creaking Bed Frame

I bought a wooden bed frame last year, and it's creaking. What can I do to stop it from creaking? Is it because the bed needs to be taken apart and screwed together again?

I recently bought a bed with metal rails and a wooden headboard and footboard. After a few months, the bed has become a little "shakey" (spelled right?) and wobbly. Of course this makes it difficult for personal time with my spouse when the children are directly under our bedroom downstairs. How do you tighten or reinforce this type of bed?

WD40 is a good quick fix but it eventually swells the wood and makes everything worse. Baby powder also is a good temporary fix, but beeswax works best; however, you have to take it all apart, apply good quality beeswax, and put it back together. Adding additional washers can help as well. Good luck.

I thought of WD-40 too, or even baby powder. Sometimes powder will work on creaking floorboard, so it might on a bed frame.

Would the bed be any different than squeaking floors? I have always used baby powder on squeaking floors, it does help. Then you may want to take the bed apart and make sure there are washers on the bolts holding the bed together. I think I would add an extra washer just to be sure. Good luck with this.

Try reinforcing the joints with metal L brackets.

Don't know if this would work, but shouldn't hurt. Try WD40 & wipe up any excess that runs down. Who knows? WD40 seems to help everything else around the house. Good Luck!
