Direct AC With A Fan

The air conditioner in our living room/dining room is in a window just between the edge of the two (They are in an "L" shape.) I used to put up a screen to direct the cool air into the living room area but my husband came up with a much more practical solution, put a fan in front of the AC and direct it in one direction or the other. That, with the direction of the AC vent itself, will blow the cooling air right where it's needed during the day, into the living room and onto our little home office area where the computer is!

Amazing what a fan can do! Good thinking. We, too,
use fans all over the uncooled places where the A/C doesn't reach, like down the garage hallway of closets, in the two windowless bathrooms, and when we want to ventilate the house just before company arrives to prevent having the house odors masked with sprays/candle smoke at the last minute. Thank God we don't have much company, though. They also come in handy when
the floors are too wet and everyone decides they need to walk on the wet floor RIGHT THEN! lol Praise

Great idea! Going to move my fan now, lol. Our ac is in the only window we can open in our LR and it is in a corner. We have a long, narrow LR and it faces the narrow side blowing only in the computer area, not the living room area (all in same room). When our landlords remodeled this place they did not think of us opening windows for fresh air, they didnt care, so out of 4 windows, only 1 opens.

I tell everybody to do that! and for more kool air get a nice big flat cardboard put on top of AC, and fan...that way alot of kool air won't be lost up to the ceiling...
