Microwave Convection ReviewsRequest: I would like to replace my old microwave with a microwave convection oven, full size, if possible. Does anyone have one they can recommend I buy or models I should stay away from? Thanks!
Feedback About This Post:RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsMy GE Monogram micro/convection JETG-002 just died. Control board no longer avail. I never used the convection feature, however home warranty program will provide a recplacement. Style: countertop+trimkit, 110V. They offered GE Profile PEB1590DM. 2 probs: one of the knobs req. turning (can't with arthritis) and it is a "lower level" than Monogram. Only Mono avail is w/Advantium tech (new tech, don't expect them to provide.) Am I unreasonable to expect another brand of similar level (i.e. Bosch or Thermador) which has the "guts" of the entry level Sharp or Panasonic? Due to all the probs should I settle for Mono. pl. microwave? If they would split the diff b/n the GE Mono Advantium and the GE Profile I'd be happy (covering Bosch or Thermador.) (Know this is not re: full size, but I really need some guidance.) Thanks kindly in advance Post by wendyb964 RE: Microwave Convection Reviewslongevity is the problem, my first kenmore micro/convect lasted 15 years, then purchsed another lasted 4 year , next got GE From Sears and lasted 2 yr 1 month . In reading reviews etc seems like no models last and all have issues from as little as 6 weeks of use , Really "torn" i also use the micro convection 2 X as much as a conventional oven.. losing hope of quality and longevity in AZ Post by kerry1claire1 RE: Microwave Convection Reviews
David, Post by daiquiri RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsI have a 1989 goldstar microwave convetion oven which is now LG but the bastards never released the new model now in the USA and has now discontinued it so I am also looing for a new one as while it still works after 20 years it exterior is just plain worn out Post By David (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsI have a GE Profile. I like it because it will do regular oven equiviants so you don't have to convert the convection oven ones if you don't want to. Kind of hard to clean. The interior is metal but the door is plastic, so don't use oven cleaner on it. Clean like a microwave (steam a cleanser soaked sponge for 2 minutes, then wipe clean) Post By Leslie (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsLinda, odd I went on the computer to check on microwave/convention wall ovens as my just stopped today. I have had it 14 years, it is a Quasar and have loved it. I also want to find out what brand is a good one and one that will last forever (almost). Years ago I bought a FABERWARE convection oven & started using it almost every day to make main meals like roasts, chops, meatloaf, etc. I absolutely loved it. Food came out great & a great amount of time was saved. One big problem- I had the convection oven almost 1 year & the day before the year was up the bottom of the oven started to eat through the metal. I had a 1 year guarantee on it so I returned it & got my money back & never replaced it. Hope I didn't disappoint you but maybe there are other brands out there that are better or have a longer guarantee on them. Good Luck. Post by kidena RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsWhat's the model number of the GE? I would like to have a current microwave/convection oven. The quality of our microwaves seems to be getting worse. Once Sharps were great, now they break down alot. I read some reviews and everyone seemed to be in agreement on the lack of durability of the newer models. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsI have a GE Profile microwave/convection combo that I bought 3 or 4 years ago. I don't have any complaints about the cooking, but I use rectangular baking dishes often and the oven won't accommodate one any larger than 13-1/2" x 8". No problem if your baking dish is round. Overall, I would say that I recommend it. Post by auntieM39 RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsMy husband bought me a Sharp Microwave/Convection oven over 15 years ago and it is still working great. I have never had a problem with it and hardly ever use my big stove. It isn't one of the modern ones with the buttons but it has a dial that you turn but I don't care because it is basic and I know how to work it. Post by handicapped91 RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsBeen reading feedback on the Sharp 930 and it has a bad breakdown record and very low durability marks. Don't think this is worth buying. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsI had looked at the Sharp 930 and now I'll see if it will fit. If it does I think that will be it! Thanks to all of you for your input, I really appreciate it. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection Reviews
I, as well as my Mom, are on our second Sharp microwave/convection ovens. I had to beg to have my mom get one over 13 years ago, and now she's as hooked as I am. The latest one we both have is the Smart and Easy Sensor- model # R-930AK. It is a large model, big enough to roast a large chicken or small turkey. I love being able to bake fresh cookies in the summer for the kids and not have to worry about heating up the house. It is very simple to use, that even my dad can heat up a quick meal.I highly recommend the Sharp products due to their durability and reliability. Good luck and have fun! I have a photo, but couldn't figure out how to attach it..... Post by freebieteach RE: Microwave Convection Reviews
I've been reading all responses with interest. I don't have a micro/convection oven, but I would really like one. I have seen a sharp at Wal-Mart, but I would like to know more. I'll keep checking back on your post. Good luck. Post by nolasandy RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsLinda, I have a 17 year old full size Quasar, which I use every day. I bake bread, cookies, small pizzas, pies and cakes in it and they come out perfectly; I also roast meats, casseroles & vegetables. It has a broiler which works just fine and as a microwave, it's the best, saves my back and doesn't heat up the kitchen the way my stove does. It has traveled from coast to coast with me and I have never had a problem with it of any kind. I don't think Quasar still makes it, but if you can find one in good condition, I can recommend it highly. Good luck to you. Post by sheilamay RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsThe Sharps have probably changed in 26 and 17 years. I have an Amana from 1986 and it no longer pings. Otherwise it's fine. I may just go for the toaster over-convection. How old is it and what brand? Post By Linda (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsI have one bought in Sears made by Sharp called Carusel II and have had it for over 17 years now. I bought one each for my son and daughter as their bridal shower gifts. All of us have been more than happy with it and use the convection setting quite often. Although you have to wait a few moments to use it on reg. micro setting after that's fine for us as usually you let the meat cool before carving anyway. Nothing beats chicken pieces baked to perfection in 35 min. Post By Ginger (Guest Post) RE: Microwave Convection Reviews
I have a Sharp microwave/convection oven that I bought in Oct 1980. I am still using it and I use the convection a lot! It is so nice to bake anything in without heating up a large size oven. A 9 x 13 pan with rounded corners fits perfect in it and rotates on the metal rack. Also nice for baking a pie. True you can let it cool some before microwaving in it or not, but what's the problem? I love mine and hope it never quits!!! Post by jewatson58 RE: Microwave Convection ReviewsLinda, I have one and I never use the convection, basically because I can't get over sticking metal in the microwave. Also, once you've used the convection oven you need to let it cool down before you can use the microwave, so you couldn't roast a chicken and then microwave the veggies to go with it. I bought a toaster oven that is also a convection oven and use that all the time. Don't know if this was what you wanted to hear though. Post by Eileen Celeste |
