Hello, I do know that 2 local vets have just verified to me that Advantage for dogs can be used on cats - as long as it is given in the correct amount, which is very important even with the cat portion. I know this is not well known but I cannot believe a certified vet would take a change on hurting my cat (and being sued) by selling me the dog formula - but - was sold with instructions as to amount.
Some of these "medications" are hard on different animals, even in correct dosage. You have to be very careful when using anything like this and usually best to use in smaller doses until you know that your animal can take it.
This medication is sold in kits that has all instructions and has been found to be safe when used as directed. It will save you a lot of money so check it out for yourself. Your vet may not want to tell you the truth because it could mean a loss of money for them.

I strongly disagree with the use of dog Advantage on cats! I have used only Cat Advantage on my dog, because of the possibility that the cats will groom him! This spring, my vet did finally tell me how to use Advantix on my dog. Put is on at bedtime so it will dry, before the cats groom him. They are safe, then.
I will continue buying Cat Advantage for the cats. Have you ever seen a cat die from the stuff in the dog flea remedies? Not pretty. We lost three cats when I was a child that way.

Hello - Frontline or Advantage is probably the best way to go with treating your pets. Look for these products on eBay as they are much cheaper and they are sold by pet stores - same products as you buy at the vet (same box).
Now the suprise !! I recently took my cat to the vet as she was not feeling well (16 years old). The vet gave her a tablet for worms which worked very well. Then she gave me a "kit" that contained Advantage for Dogs!! She gave an eye dropper and marked how much to put on my cat (for her weight). She told me the cat and dog Advantage are all the same - just be carful of the amount you use.
Now I say "gave" me these items !!!! What an understatement - I walked away after paying 191.00 but feeling better abut my baby.
Now I have another cat at home and the vet told me to go to my local feed store to buy the worm tablets for this cat. Great savings there!!
Then I found on eBay that several sellers sell the kit for Advantage that can be used on dogs or cats!
The kit has everything you need including the eyedropper with markings - a bottle to keep solution in - and full instructions. The price - plus shipping (free shipping on most) was much, much less than anywhere on the Net or at the vet. Really true.
Now, I do not sell it so I am just offering this info to help someone in this bad economy that still have pets that we love very much.

The best treatment I've found is Comfortis - you buy it at the vet's office. It is expensive, but it works and I've found that the cheaper brands, such as Frontline, don't. Hope your pet gets some relief and God bless you.
