RE: Removing Spray Paint from plastic rear window on bmwz3

I spray painted the rear window on my car with some type of tinted paint. And I want to take it off. Is it anyway I can do that without messing up the window? Thank you

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

I recently picked up my '99 Toyota Camry from the body shop where I discovered a "mist" of paint on the passenger side window. They recommended #0000 steel wool, but even with no coating (or tinting) I fear damage from the steel wool. It's not like paint you can pick off with a fingernail; it's really on there. Is there a chemical (e.g. WD-40) that will remove it without damaging the glass?

RE: Removing Spray Paint from car's painted surface

Question: what's the best way to remove spray paint from a car's painted surface? Some loser just spray painted my bonnet. Any ideas?

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH
I was so angry and upset and had no clue how to remove white 'body part' that was sprayed onto our black car.
First thing I did was google the problem. : used the wd-40 on window and body,
wiped with a rag - with a little bit of elbow grease.
That damned thing came right off. THANK YOU ALL!!!
PS don't bother calling cops...they can't do anything-the insurance co will just raise your premium- so don't call them either. Now we know how to do this and I THANK YOU all so much. !!

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Just scraped the side of my van against one of those yellow poles, ugly 3 foot wide yellow from front quarter panel to rear. I just knew I'd never get it off ...

I tried a little chrome polish on a cotton rag. It came right off!! Left the paint very smooth and shiny, now I have to wash the whole van. LOL

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

I just went outside and tried the Magic Eraser and it worked! I have had spray paint on my white chevy van for a year now and I went outside and got all of it off with a Magic Eraser Sponge. I also used a straight razor blade for the thick stuff, but I am AMAZED! Everyone with spray paint woes should definately try this.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

What is a Magic Eraser? Is it a Mr. Clean item that I can buy at the grocery store? Also.....anyone know a good polish/wax and anything that will help with scratches? Thanks.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Two words: MAGIC ERASER!

I woke up this morning to find someone had sprayed paint all over my car - body, windows, licence plate, etc. After the police arrived and the phone calls to my insurance agent were made, I went outside to my car with a bucket of warm water. I wet the area, wet the Magic Eraser, and did a little rubbing. It worked PERFECTLY! I HIGHLY recommend this method should you have the need. It DEFINITELY WORKS!

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Well my car was spray painted with gold spray paint by some young kids. All I did was get nail polish remover with Acetone and rubbed it off in less than 5 minutes. It had been on my car for two days.

A bunch of cars in my area including my roommate's Sister's car got spray painted last night. Naturally everyone was upset. I ran out there with a bottle of "Goo Gone" and sprayed it all over the regions that were spray painted. Used some paper towels and it all came right off. Good luck to anyone else in this situation.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from van body

omg! i woke up this morning to c that some creeps have spray painted a bright red nazi sign on the side of my dads toyota sienna van and hes in hospital rite now so it really sux n i have to clean it by tomorrow before my dad finally gets to come home so im hoping using the nail polish remover n water works cuz i dont know wat else to do and i have to think quick so im glad i found this site at least i think i may be ill have to try the nail polish remover trick and c wat happens

Editor's Note: I'd call around to car detailers and ask what they would use. Because it is paint on car paint, it might not come off with polish remover.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

****THIS WORKS*********

Dear All,

I have just spent the past two hours removing white grafitti spray can paint off the bonnet of my prized black Nissan 350Z!!! Its now back to perfect! Here's how....

1. Lightly wash affected area to remove overlying dirt with a standard wash (no wax)

2. With a cotton cloth dipped in womens nail varnish remover with acetone carefully rub out the spray paint. Careful to stop when you see the original paint.

3. Then wash acetone off with water immediately.

4. Do SMALL areas at a time

5. Repeat until majority of spray has come off, there will be some speckles where the spray has gone peripherally-leave it, you'll get more acetone on the original paint than on the spray.

6. Once majority is off, wash again.

7. Then using Maguire Scratch X do the whole area focusing on where the spray is left.

8. Repeat step 7 till no spray left.

9. Now you've got a good surface to apply your usual coloured polish / wax.

It does take time but it certainly worked for me, and the bonnet now looks as good as new as in doing so have removed minor scratches too.

Hope this helps...Word of warning test a little of the acetone on the least obvious part older car paints may bleed off......

Good luck.

I got "painted" last night also. My black Civic now has a dorsal stripe. How do you get the paint from the plastic around the doors? Would acetone fade the black color? Thanks for all the suggestions, the WD-40 worked really well on the paint.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

someone spraypainted the body and window of our new white car last night. We used WD40 on both as soon as we saw it and it came right off. Then took it to the carwash. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions on this site!

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

I had the same thing happen, someone spray painted black on my 2006 Tacoma from brake light to headlight. I immediately got it out of the sun, took it to the car wash and washed it. Afterward, I used some hand cleaner (GOOP) and a wool sock and it came off in no time. I think the GOOP is easier on the paint than any other cleaners mentioned.

Removing Spray Paint from Truck Body

I had someone spray paint a line from the taillight of my silverado clear to the front headlights. I used paint thinner which you have to be careful with so that you do not eat through the clear coat on the body of the car. I have found this way to be the easiest.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Can someone please advise how to remove spray paint from car body specifically doors? Will using acetone affect the natural color of the car?

Post By guest (Guest Post)

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Nail polish remover with acetone works perfectly on the window. WD40 works on the body of a car. Both are quick, easy, and effective.

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Actually I own a body shop and this is whay you do and it's cheap. Go to the nearest store and by nail polish remover with acetone! the acetone will take the paint right off of window. If the paint is heavy then use a staight razor then the acetone.

Post By Bill (Guest Post)

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

The razor blade works well for the majority of the paint, then use laquer thinner on a rag to remove the rest. Be careful not to get to much on the plastic or rubber parts as the thinner will disolve them as well as remove paint.""

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

go to your hardware store and buy a window scraper and some single edge razor blades, they work beautiful.we had our car painted and they left some paint around the windows so that's the solution we used and it's really easy and works fast.

Post By cookieone (Guest Post)

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

After the straight edge razor, try WD40 for the remaining spots of paint. WD40 took shoe polish off my leather boots.

Post by kidseatfree

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

we use a straight edge razor in a holder to scrape off paint from windows in the house. i would think it would be the same in a car.

Post By sandy (Guest Post)

RE: Removing Spray Paint from Truck Window

Have you tried a straight edge razor blade & scraping it off?

Paint thinner?

I have no experience with either of these ideas.
