Cat Keeps Returning to Previous Home

I have a 6 year old female cat. We lived in this trailer for her entire life, until just a couple of months ago when we built a house and moved into it. The house is only about 1/8 of a mile from the trailer we used to live in and the cat hates the house! (She's an indoor/outdoor cat).

Almost every night, she will go down the road and lay on the porch of the trailer, while we haul her back every morning. We even brought her 'friends' over (other outdoor cats she sometimes will play with). There really is not much for her at the trailer.

Do you know of any way to keep her from doing that? We love her and want her to stay here, she just doesn't seem to want to. (She has a LOT of extra space, compared to what she used to have.)

Please help! Running out of ideas.

My sister had the same problem. She moved from the city to the country and when they let the cat loose at her new place it just ran under her bed and stayed their for about two weeks. Slowly they introduced the cat to the outdoors. Our neighbors made a wire cage like a big bird cage, set it outside on the lawn and put a scratching/climbing post, food and water dish inside. Everyday they would put their cat in the enclosure. The cat couldn't run away and got used to her surroundings after a while.

Is there a way you could make her a large enclosed area out side, so she can be outside and not " go back home " ? Like a large screen area of some sort.

Cats seem to get attached more to places than people. Try making her just an indoor cat for awhile until she realizes that your new home is now her place. The good news tho is that your old home isn't far away and you know where to find her.
