Removing Grout from Ceramic Floor Tiles

My husband installed a new ceramic tile floor in our mud room. It left a film of grout on the tiles all over. We can't seem to remove it. We have washed it several times, steamed the tiles, and scrubbed with various brushes, but it is still there. Has anyone had a similar problem? A solution would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Removing Grout from Ceramic Floor Tiles

I had the same problem after installing ceramic in my kitchen, I used muratic acid mixed with water to clean it off. Mix it mild 1 cup or so with a gallon of water use a sponge and rubber (chemical proof) gloves. Acid can be purchased in the paint department of your local home center. worked great for me but did darken my light brown grout a little. They also make an acid base grout cleaner, but I have never tried it. Let me know how it works for you kenmoore800 at msn.com good luck!
