How do I remove a red koolaid stain from carpet?

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

Thank you thank you thank you. My dog was chewing on a toy that had red dye in it..the red dye left a stain on my new grey rug. I used the dawn, but my iron is broken, so I used my clothes steamer. It took no time at all, so considering the hot steam on the white cloth....just zapped it out. I am thrilled to have found this site as I thought my new rug was a goner. Please consider using a clothes steamer instead of an iron.

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

Before you attempt the usage of Dawn dish washing liquid there are a few things to consider. As a professional carpet cleaner we handle these spots all the time and have run into people that have called us a few months after they tried this method because the red kool aid spot is now grey, since the dawn liquid does not freely rinse from the carpet, it attracts dirt like crazy, creating a grey spot over time.

There is a very inexpensive chemical that does the job better than dish soap my friend wrote about it at http://bigfishservicecompany.wordpr ... d-juice-and-colored-spots-in-carpet/

I cant believe the iron & the warm water with dawn actually worked. I was skeptical because thought it'd be too good to be true. My stain was HUGE & now it's like it was never there (fruit punch).

Omg this really does work. My son had spilled red koolaid on my living room carpet which is a cream color. I saw this site and was skeptical because everything else that was supposed to work didn't, but I was willing to try anything and I tried this and I was so shocked. This is the only thing that worked it brought the koolaid right up and onto the white cloth! Thanks so much for telling me about this :)

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

I had the same Crystal Light stain - raspberry - on new carpet. Had been there a month or so. I had given up with stain removers, when I found this site. I mixed two cups warm water with 5-6 drops blue Dawn dishwasher liquid. Put a spoonful directly on the stain, then put some white washcloths in the rest of the liquid. Wrung each one out, then laid it on the stain. I put the iron on low, and couldn't believe it - the stain started lifting onto the washcloth. Took about 45 minutes of doing this. Went through three washcloths. Thank you!

If I hadn't tried this myself I wouldn't have believed it. I spilled raspberry Crystal Light (the WORST kind of red stain) on light beige carpet. After blotting as much as I could, I put Spray n Wash on it and let it set for several minutes. Then I went to work with the Dawn detergent, water, white towel, and an iron. It took the better part of an hour but the stain lifted.

RE: Red Stain out of White Carpet

Water spilled over onto a red velvet tree skirt this Christmas and then soaked the carpet behind the tree with red dye. Although I noticed it when it was still wet, it was after the tree was decorated and in place, so rather than move the tree and deal with it then, I waited...three weeks. I took the tree down today and there the spot was in its dark pink glory. I got out the Bissell and all the chemicals I could find, including peroxide, baking soda, alcohol and various carpet cleaners. I went over the spot for three hours with that approach, which resulted in an improvement, however, there was still a faint pink area on my white carpet. I went to the internet and searched for help and found this site. AMEN! I applied stick Spray N Wash because that was all I had, a white t-shirt and hot iron. Within 20 minutes, the stain disappeared. AMAZING. Thank you from Susan in Roswell, GA.

Honestly whoever posted about the iron is my new hero! We had a fruit punch spill on hotel room carpet, and tried everything else. This was the only thing that actually worked ad probably saved us a huge bill from our stay. Thank you!

The steam iron works. Don't mix too much Dawn with water - about 10 parts water to 1 Dawn, Can take color out of carpet. To recolor go to hobby/craft shop and buy color pen inks (like a sharpie) One brand is Prismacolor. They're used to color cloth craft projects. Will need several color combo's to match rug and "clear blender" color to blend. Lasts about two years on rug even with rug cleaner.

This really works. My kids had a red stain and an orange stain on the carpet from Hugs drinks. I soaked the stain with water and dish detergent and placed a white towel over it and used a hot steam iron on top of the towel. I had to repeat this more than once. It takes time but the stain got lighter and lighter. I'm so excited that something finally worked!

Hooray! Thank you for this nifty trick! My niece's friends spilled red Gatorade on my mother's beige carpet (when the knew drinks were forbidden in the family room!) and hid it with blankets for a day.
The hot iron, water and white cotton rags and an hour's worth of time took that stain out completely!
I did put a paste of Biz enzymes on it for a day beforehand, which I think helped some, but next time I will just use the iron and rags.

It is simply amazing how fast it works. I did the same thing last night steam cleaning the carpet and using stain remover for about an hour. I thought it was gone, but this morning when I woke up I saw the stain. I put water on the carpet and then put a white towel and then ironed over the stain and it was gone just like magic. Thank you

Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

EUREKA it works! OMG! I've tried for years to remove red koolaid stains from my beige carpet and was NEVER successful until now! It works! As previously stated, it takes time patience, and monitoring of the iron, but it works! Now I'm working on ALL the stains that I have discovered. Thank you whoever thought of this, it works! Just remember to wet the cloth, monitor the the iron on the stain and keep it no higher than medium. Bev.

Wow...thank you all so much. The iron and Dawn really worked. I used stain removers etc. I thought I had it out but then the next day, there is the "red" stain, still there. I tried the iron and Dawn method, I put the water with Dawn directly on the carpet, then covered with white cotton dish towel, then ironed after several times of doing this...then WA LA, my stain is gone. I am absolutely thrilled!

RE: Koo-laid Stain out of Carpet

I not sure what just happen, but putting a WET TOWEL over the red koo-laid stain and ironing it actually worked. I also did wet the stain itself. At first I was cautious not to burn carpet, but the more heat applied the better it brought out stain. Unbelievable, I tried dawn and resolve triple action first with little luck. Thanks to the person behind this idea.

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

I used the iron and sprayed it with grease lightning prior and let it set for 15 minutes. It all came out! And it was a 4 hour old koolaid stain! I am so amazed! It took about 15 minutes of the iron over the towel trick, but it worked and every little bit came out! Thanks!

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

I read the posts on removing koolaid but since I already had tried water, spray and wash and oxyclean the carpet had been treated. Blotting out the water wasn't removing the stain so I tried the iron with a cotton dishtowel and plenty of water. It removed quite a bit of the stain but not all so I added more water and dawn. I steamed and blotted for quite a while and eventually the big red stain vanished. I think dawn, water and the ironing method is the best of all I tried.

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

Well I just want to say I thought that if the dawn dish washing liquid and steam iron can get out red koolaid then I was going to try it on my pet stain and WOW it brought every single stain on my carpet up! I am AMAZED! This is great information....Thank You...And for those who don't know about Lestiol it is wonderful for stains on clothes just pour on straight let sit overnite and wash by hand rubbing on stain. I haven't found anything it doesn't get out!

I scrubbed for hours with stain removers, I used a steam cleaner, and it didn't work. I tried this and within 30 minutes the Hawaiian punch stain is now gone. Thank God, I would have had to pay the landlord for this stain.

RE: Wine Cooler Stain out of Carpet

Iron, wet towel, and a little bit of tide works great!! You have to iron over the wet towel for a while but eventually the stain lifts. Now we won't lose our deposit...pheww

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

Wow. I found out about 3-4 years ago that I had a Hawaiian Punch stain underneath my toy chest and never told anybody. Today I wet the spot, covered it with a towel, and ironed it. Now it's gone! Expectant for that nasty sweet smell that rises with the steam, it's the perfect fix!

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet

I tried the iron over a damp towel it worked pretty good. So I wet the carpet where the stain was, and did the iron/towel thing. It works either way .I'm so glad I found this out because this stain would have cost me a new carpet.

My husband spilled red KoolAid on my white carpet. We called several professional carpet cleaners who all claimed there was no help for the stain. A friend found this website and forwarded it on a few weeks later. We tried the dawn dishsoap and boiling water methods and vacuumed up the water with our steam cleaner. It worked! Our carpet looks like new again. Maybe I'll share this trick with the "professionals."

We had an "mystery" red juice stain under our couches and this lifted it right out! I couldn't believe it! There was no telling how long the stain had been there but regardless it had completely vanished after repeating 2x. Thanks for the help! :)

My 4 year old spilled red kool aid on my almost white carpet and then hid it! I didn't find it until the next day and it was dry. I mixed a little dawn dish soap with water, and soaked the stain. Then I put a damp towel over it and pressed my hot iron to it. I did this whole process over and over at least 10 times and worked on it for an hour, but slowly it began to work. now I can hardly tell where the spill was.

I was amazed at how the steam and white cloth worked. I had stain from over 2 years. It takes time and you may have to repeat it a few times, but it really works.

My daughter spilled red koolaid on my light colored carpet. I tried the wet towel over the stain and then ironed it.
It made the stain alot lighter, but it was also on my carpet for a few days because I didnt know how to get it out.
Thank you!
