Looking For Affordable, Fashionable Children's Clothing
But again with 3 daughters I can't afford their prices. Does anyone have ideas of where I can start looking for the more fashionable clothing without breaking the bank?

I have a 10 year old daughter and I shop at a resale store called Kidstuff on Garrisonville Road in North Stafford. They carry girls sizes thru size 16 and the items I purchase are always in excellent condition, in style and at prices I don't mind paying! Good Luck!

I actually used to be a power seller on eBay that offers those name brands at below retail prices. I currently am transferring my inventory onto a new site due to eBay's recent changes & fee increases. When my 2 daughters were in Jr/High School - I'd buy the basic clothing items at lower prices, but then concentrate my money on a few trendy items. If they layer their clothes, who really notices the regular jeans or plain t-shirts with a cool shirt/sweather over the top?

I find those two brands at garage sales all the time. My daughter doesn't seem to care about brands yet and she's 10! She's excited to wear "new" garage sale clothes.
Check out ebay and thrift stores plus Once Upon a Child if you have one in your area.

I used to work at a consignment store that had lots of pre-teen, teen, and adult women's clothing. You may have to check around your area to find one that has what you want, but the one I worked in had a lot of people consigning clothes that had money but who wanted some back when they went to buy the next season's clothes. I'm not kidding you, the prices we sold them for were really cheap compared to what they sold, retail. Not all stores are the same, that's why I suggest you check around to see your options. Good luck, I remember when I was that age.

Lots of good ideas here, but you might call the store and ask if they need any modeling. Perhaps your daughter could model their clothing and get paid in clothes! At least it would cost anything to ask.

I've seen and bought Limited Too clothing from Marshalls. Check the tags, the brand names on the clothes are often crossed out.

Where I live there is a store called Platto's closet that sells gently used brand name clothes for teens. You can even trade old clothes in for new. Also check out other local thrifts stores and garage sales. You will find clothes at a fraction of the price. If your daughter doesn't like the idea of buying "used" clothing, just show her the cute clothes you find first before you tell her way it comes from!

Following the same directions as the post before mine here, you could also find cotton fabrics in designs of swirls or polka dots and cut them out in shapes and iron them on the jeans. Then top stitch around them as well. Use your printer to print out shapes like hearts circles even animal shapes like dogs cats or balloons and use those as your template to cut the fabric with for your decals then after you iron and sew them on.
Add things like ribbons or draft paint to make the strings or swirls for them. Walmart sell wonder under iron paper by the yard for $1 in the fabric department use that for your ironing on of the fabric decals and ribbons as well as lace too. You can buy your choice of fabrics by simply buying small amounts of each piece like 1/4 of yard that way you have lots of choices for very little money spent. I alter and create this same idea and sell on ebay. Using many themes in popular characters on premade jeans or shirts. Y
ou can do this yourself and make sets that she and others will love. Take of her favorite tops that have long sleeves and alter it to have shorter or even no sleeves and use those sleeves as your fabric to use on her jeans by adding ruffles to the bottom jeans edge of as patches layered on top of each other. Put a piece of the fabric from the matching top you just altered in to the inside visual part of her jeans pocket to add flair and match. Take a piece of the fabric as a long strip and use it as a belt through the jeans loops to match the top.
All of the kids tops are light weight fabrics but long sleeves so by just removing the sleeves or even cutting the top off as a midriff you now have that pretty fabric to use for decorating her jean shorts skirts etc. Take old jeans she already has cut off into capri length do the same idea with a top she has and use the jeans bottoms you cut off to make a matching swing purse for her.
Look on ebay in kids clothing searching for the words custom boutique, and you'll see lots of ideas that others have come up to go by. Also use different color threads when you sew on your fabrics to add interest. Have fun with it and get her involved she will love being the creative source behind her OOAK items she can create that others will want.

Well, if you buy the jeans at walmart or at a garage sale, first of all take off the tag (faded glory, etc). You can easily add colorful ribbon down the legs of the jeans. Iron on a few really cute patches. Walmart has quite q few!
Get fabric paint and make swirls and hearts and butterflies, etc. They'll be one of a kind jeans. Plus let the girls help you and they can say that they designed them their selves!

My daughter is also petite. I like old navy because they have great prices but you have to buy their clothes 1-2 sizes smaller then normal. I also like target they have cute affordable clothes and a lot of their pants and jeans have hidden adjustable elastic bands inside.

I honestly have found lots of name-brand clothing at thrift and goodwill stores, even our Salvation Army has a very good selection. Most stores have very good sales as well, 1/2 off days ect.You can also look for consignment stores in your area, I dress my children 7 and 11 very well by shopping at these stores, I am picky though and thoroughly check everything out, sometimes I have gotten things for almost free because of a small tear or undone seam and then take it home and fix it myself. Good luck and remember buying from these kind of places provides jobs and recycles clothing to keep it out of our landfills!
