Herding Group
This group was created by the American Kennel Club in 1983 to recognize members of the working group that excel at herding and controlling the movement of other animals. Many of these breeds are no longer used for herding and are more often kept as household pets. They are intelligent and easy to train, and many kept as companions still retain strong instincts to herd-even trying to gently herd their owners or the children in the family. Examples of herding breeds include Old English Sheepdogs, Corgis, Collies, Australian Cattle Dogs and the Puli.
