RE: Generic Heart Worm Pills

I've been on the generic pet meds bandwagon for a while now and surprised more people aren't aware that there are alternatives to the expensive brand names. One particular brand of heartworm med is made right here in Australia, called Valuheart. 6 Months worth of heartworm preventative tablets can be bought for as little as $12.

Full disclosure: I am the owner of petmeds-store.com which sells pet meds online.

For those who have trouble giving their dogs pills, we always hide them in a glob of liverwurst. Haven't had a dog say "no" or spit 'em out yet!

I, too, bought the cheaper heartworm pills. My Suzie dog is such a princess, she won't take pills no matter what you put them in, peanut butter, soft dog food, hot dogs, nothing works. So I buy her the more expensive ones. Our Toby boy dog will eat anything you put before him so he gets the cheaper version. Whenever we have to give Suzie any kind of pills, we have to shove them down her throat. What a pain, for her and for us!

I bought them, but my girls (older dogs) didn't like them. Remember that these are chewables. We went right back to the Heartgard heartworm pills. Saving money doesn't work if they won't take them.
