Urgent Wedding Cake Decorating Ideas Needed!

All that is left is the decoration for our wedding cake. (I have the cake - homemade!. But I am completely stuck for ideas on decorating it!
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated!
Our colours are white and silver. I'd like it to be fun and quirky but attractive!
The picture is one I did for our invitations !-) Also homemade!

You can use wine glasses inverted for pillars, tie ribbon around each for pillars, doves on top, most important, use silk flowers, as dainty as you can find, to put around and on your cake! Very easy, and very, very pretty!

You can do something like this it is called sloppy lace(the stripes with the lacy look) you just cut a small hole in the bag and squeeze as close to the cake as you can w/o messing up the cake if you mess up you just do it all over the cake. It looks cool if you can add a few real flowers if you can not do icing flowers.

For our wedding, I was going to just use flowers but with my dad's help, I found a way to get magnetic chrome letters (initials of my husband's and my first name) to become our cake topper.

A simple but elegant wedding cake I've done MANY times,even an amature can do.Using decorator icing(which I've posted here) icing the cake. Using a writing tip. squiggle Ss and Vs sort of attached to each other over the top and sides of the cake .They don't have to be PILED on ,leave spaces between. This has the effect of lace on a cake...no borders . It's easy . Top your cake with a small cluster of flowers,silk or live. Practice on a inverted pan or box top till you get the effect you want.

Wedding cake topper - solution!
I just wanted to let you all know that I found the perfedt solution to my "urgent wedding cake topper request!"
It's 3 weeks to go, and I met the most fantastic florist, who is creating flowers to match the cake, flowers for my hair, button holes, corsages and a bouquet.
She works from home and I feel like I've made a new friend as well BARGAIN!

try going to wilton.com, their a cake decorating company... you should see plenty of pics that you may like for wedding cakes, and you could get some idea's off that... just an idea. As far as the white and silver are concerned, use white icing, make enough for the whole cake and add TINY drops of black or gray food coloring to give the silver tint. For icing flavors, a good to go on ALL cakes, is the buttercream icing recipe that should also be found on the above site. Happy hunting and Good luck!!

We made our cake to look like our invitation with the overlapping hearts on top and even the rag edge of the cake.

White frosting with silver dragees (not sure on the spelling, they are pronounced dra-jay) would look really sharp. They are little silver balls that look like a bee-bee from a gun, but are edible. They are in the cake decorating department at walmart or michaels. You could put them on in a heart shaped pattern.

You could set chocolate kisses (stilled in their silver wrappers and white pull-tapes) on the cake in the shape of a heart and along the edges of the cake.
You could put silver bows and pieces of curly silver ribbon on it.
To draw your own picture on, which would be totally cool, though I don't know how to incorporate silver and white, you could put frosting in a cone made from wax paper with a tiny hole at the tip and squeeze the frosting through.
Try photocopying your drawing to get it to a good size for the cake. Then try laying another piece of wax paper over the drawing and tracing it with icing. Then slide the wax paper to a cookie sheet and move it to the freezer. Then peel the wax paper off the back and set it on the cake. I expect you couldn't get it off in one piece (or I couldn't), but you could put it back together on the cake.
You should practice this a couple of times because some icing recipes may work much better than others. (For those times you fail, you will be forced to eat icing. Oh, no.) Before trying this with the actual cake, make sure to practice actually setting the design on something gooey (like a cake, but something else like mashed potatoes spread on a baking sheet could be good for practice too).
Also, try leaving parts of it in the freezer over long periods to see how long you can save it and still have it taste good. It would be nice if you didn't have to do the drawing part at the last second like everything else.

Why don't go go for the simple yet sophisticated look for the cake and draw the same picture you created for your invitations on the top?
How many people can say they have custom designed artwork for their cakes?
Put it on a gorgeous pedestal and let your talent shine forth. Let it speak for itself!
Outline it with thin licorice candy strips and fill it in with black icing.

How about decorating the top and sides with candied flowers or gum drop flowers?
A co-worker once brought a lovely decorated cake to school.
She frosted it in white with artistically designed peaks and swirls, placed gum drops in a lifesavers shape on the top (she said these were from the grocery store candy section) and a layer of jam in the center the same color as the gum drops.
She also said that sometimes she'd tint the white frosting the same color as the jam and gum drops (usually orange). Very pretty and effective.
I was contemplating suggesting having a picture of you and your soon to be DH made of edible sugar and paint at your local grocery bakery for the cake top, but I don't like the idea of a knife cutting into it and feel that is probably a better idea for displaying cartoon characters.

Can never go wrong with fresh flowers, or chocolate shavings if your cake is chocolate flavored.
