Buying High End Cosmetics for Cheap Prices

I just got some color shampoo at the dollar store (which would cost $8/bottle) - and face cream (another $7/8 a tube)! So, for $7, I ended up getting about $50 worth of stuff! I always check out the 99 Cent store for upscale beauty items and them stock up, saving lots of $ as opposed to the drug store! (Also sales and clearances at drug stores, too.) The products start off at the high end, then trickle down to retail to discount - so now I can get cellulite/firming cream for 99 Cents - so keep your eyes peeled!

Also you might want to keep in mind that as these products go 'down' to a 99cent store that means that the BIG stores could not sell them even for 'special sale prices' and not moving the product quick enough. After sitting for months and possibly over a year as cosmetics get old the free radicals in your skin can begin to have a field day. Old product brings no good to the skin and though you may not see it's effects right away you will down the road. My mom always had a saying it is an old one but none the less a wise one. You get what you pay for. It is better if you can just make your own products many facial ans skin recipes are quick and easy. The internet is one of the greatest tools we have now at our finger tips take the time and take advantage of the (good) it has to offer.

Be careful with these, especially if they are manufactured out of the country in a poor country (eg. China). I was watching a TV report on terrorists mass-producing fakes perfumes and products that are flooding the markets and discount stores. They are not genuine items, so that is why you are getting a bargain. Testing even showed urine and toxic chemicals in the fake perfumes. They are so good that experts have a hard time telling the difference, especially in packaging. I wouldn't buy them again.

I agree, it is old stuff! I bought some 'brand name' cosmetic products once at a $1.00 store and didn't notice the date.....when I got home, it said 1999! I ended up throwing it away as it had turned rancid. I always check dates...also when you go to Costco...check their dates as they have stuff outdated on the shelves a lot!

i have tried buying a couple of name brand items thwt way and found that they smelled funny or were just a touch off color. i suspect that these products may be old or have been compromised by too hot or cold temps in a warehouse along the way. i do have friends who buy products this way and are very satisfied.

Oh, but please be careful with purchases like that from dollar stores... They usually are not manufactured to U.S. standards and may contain ingredients that your skin or body aren't used to. Not that they would "hurt" you, but they may irritate or make you ill...
