I had a doll similar to this one when I was small)about 100 years ago,lol.) The body part of mine wes plain red, with blue trim. The fabric must have been a thinner version of the polar fleece we have today, because as the doll got older, I can remember the fabric feeling kind of nubby. There were a few blonde curls made out of yarn sticking out along the edge of the cap, mainly on top. I don't know what the doll was actually called.

Like another poster, I had one like this, too--around 1955, 1956. Soft body, plastic ( or very hard rubber?) face. Think it was a Little Red Riding Hood, as well.

Her eyes and lips look like Betty Boop who was originally created in the 1930's ... Not saying she's a Betty Boop doll but maybe this info will be of help ...

It looks like a doll I had when I was little. Her bodice said, "Little Red Riding Hood". She had a hood on her head -- no hair underneath, just some stands curling around her face. She also had a cape. If that is the same doll she's been around at least since 1953 because that's when I had her. Thanks for posting, this brought back such memories!

When I see 'em - normally looking for other dolls ! - they're usually referred to as 'mask face' dolls. There's usually hair (often yarn hair) or a scarf covering the edge of the plastic 'mask', and the whole rest of the body is usually soft stuffed cotton.
Never seen one with wiggle/googly eyes before, though. This isn't much help, but may help you narrow the search !

Need more information, what is face made of? What is body made of? I have a couple that look similar but is hard to tell from photo. The face [lip shape, eye lashes] looks of a german origin. Did you check the Kovels Antique site, alot of info there.
