What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

I have a dry flaky scalp even after I wash it with Shampoo and conditioner. A lot of people here suggest vinegar. But I was wondering what kind of vinegar? There's apple cider vinegar and white vinegar. How should I use it?

Thanks,
Anna

I am still not clear, if this cures it forever? Is any cure mentioned above is a permanent cure? Or does it needs to done for lifetime?

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

I can get dandruff pretty bad.
In the evening I put vinegar in a large bowl, 1/3 of the large bottle. I dilute it with about 4-6 cups of water. It's pretty strong but it works. I tilt my head back in the bowl and soak my scalp (and hair) including my hairline for about 5 minutes. Towel dry your hair and brush it and when its dry go to bed. The vinegar will hurt a bit, but doesn't last long, if you've scratched as much as I can.
In the morning shampoo and condition your hair, your hair will be really soft, no more build up and no more dandruff!

What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

Is the white vinegar is the same which we use in kitchen. which comes in granules, can we make that granules diluted in water and use it? Basically my hairs are silky but having dandruff, when I use dandruff shampoo. My hairs turns too rough, so if I leave this solution in my hair means not rinse in end will it be fine? Please give me suggestion. I'm quite worried about it :(

You can mix the vinegar with Chamomile Tea which will help subside the smell of the vinegar and by using the tea you are treating your hair as well, Chamomile is good for your hair. The mix is very little vinegar to the tea. It is about 1 tablespoon of vinegar to a pint of tea. It works great and the smell is lessened.

Vinegar

Hi, I just started using vinegar to get rid of my dandruff...I don't know if it works yet but does the smell go away when your hair dries? I can already tell the difference by using it though because now my hair is shiny and softer. Thanks!

I use apple cider vinegar. Works like a charm. Smells until it dries and you shampoo your hair. I used everythng and only this worked. Some hair grew back in after I stopped scatching my scalp so much.

Severe dandruff (a thick rain of large flakes) may be psoriasis. Vinegar did not work. Tried H&S, Nizoral, salicylic acid shampoos - nothing. Dermatologist directed:
1) Apply prescribed 0.05% solution of fluocinonide to scalp
2) Before washing hair, rub a coal-tar based shampoo into scalp and let sit for two minutes, then shampoo any way you like.
Most dandruff was gone after ten days.

Yes, vinegar is very affective. I think apple and white both work very well by themselves, but some shampoos like Head & Shoulders work well while not making your eyes sting. However, both are miraculous and are like magic.

White (clear) Distilled Vinegar. I have found it cheapest at Walmart in the food section by salad dressings. I buy the gallon which is less than $2.00. I suppose you could use it prior to shampooing, but I believe it would make sense to use after your finished with shampoo and conditioner. Mix half and half in a spray bottle with water and spray near scalp, give it a minute or so, and then rinse. Personally I use Dollar store dandruff shampoo (as I need to) which has zinc in it, also in Head and shoulders. I use this for seborrheic dermatitis (itching, sores, flaking) and it helps. I have used vinegar on my face as well with cotton ball, for dermatitis and acne. I promise the smell does go away. I use vinegar for cleaning everything, bathroom, kitchen, aids in laundry, occasionally teeth. It's uses are endless. Search it on the net. It's inexpensive and non-toxic. I've read you can mix it with lemon juice, which some may prefer to smell better. As far as apple cider goes, it has it uses to but personally I prefer white.

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

I use the cheapest costco brand white distilled vinegar. Use it when you rinse. Great for scalp. Great for skin period. External use only. Leaves your hair super shiny. Sometimes I don't even rinse completely because once dry-smell gone. Leaves your wash cloths and sink sponges bacteria free and smelling nice. This makes for an okay external remedy. But changing your diet will help even more. Avoid refined sugars, carbs, cows milk. Get more flax, fish and nuts, not to mention fruit and vegetables.

I done think vinegar will work if you're African-American. Our hair is different from other races. I'm very sensitive to watered down shampoo. If you have dandruff, you should use Pantene for women of color

After using the vinegar, and washing it out, do I use shampoo too?

I use white distilled vinegar. Dilution 2 to 1 is optional. Any vinegar will work though. Vinegar is extremely effective for dandruff.

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

Just check it is not your shampoo causing the problem. Pantene and L'Oreal colour leave my head itchy and flakey (huge flakes disgusting). L'Occitane Shea butter range, Phililp Kinsgley and Ojon seem ok and have cleared this problem. If not my mum used to use cider vinegar.

Can you put vinegar on coloured hair to get rid of dandruff?

vinegar for dandruff help?

Well, i have white vinegar, but how do i use it??
Do i just pour it on my head and massage it then wash my hair like normal??

what if my hair smells like vinegar?

Editor's Note: I've never used white vinegar but have used Apple Cider vinegar. Take 1/4 cup or so and rub it into your hair after you wash it, let it sit a minute and let it soak in, then rinse. It will make your hair shiny, get rid of the shampoo and the smell disipates very quickly.

dandruff remedy

Try drenching your head with Listerine (don't use Scope or anything like that), being careful to keep it out of your eyes (not dangerous, just burns a bit).

Wait three or four full minutes before rinsing it out, then shampoo as usual.

You'll wonder where all the flakes went!

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

I use White Vinegar to get rid of dandruff. I just simply pour some vinegar on my head and massage it to my scalp and then leave it on for 10 minutes or so, after that, I just wash my hair like you would normally do after you add shampoo or conditioner. Once I wash my hair, I towel dry it, Never Ever Use Hairblowers! Hairblowers can reduce the activity of the vinegar taking place on your sculp. It burns out the vinegar. After towel dry, I just simply add conditioner on my head and then wash it and towel dry it. That's all you need to do!

Keep doing this everyday in my morning when you wake up and it'll work like a charm! Doing this will also add shine to your hair and it will look healthier then before.

Use Zincon shampoo, work it into the scalp and leave it on for a few minutes. Rinse. Use daily.

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

I use white vinegar. You can use it as a rinse as described above or put it in a spray bottle. Spray your scalp with the pure vinegar(no water) a few minutes before showering. Let it sit on your scalp and then shower/wash your hair as normal.

Witch Hazel is an excellent astringent and you won't smell like a walking salad when you use it. LOL! Very cheap at your local pharmacy. A few drops of your favorite essential oil gives a nice smell.

Hi, have you tried using Head and Shoulders for Sensitive scalp? It comes in a bluish purple bottle? We use it and have great success with it.

Good luck.

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

Hi Anna! You can use either white or apple cider vinegar. I usually use white vinegar and about 1/4 of a cup of vinegar to 3/4 cup of water. I don't rinse it out...just towel dry it well and then blow dry. Hope this helps!!! You'll find your hair is pretty soft with this rinse, too.

RE: What kind of vinegar for dandruff?

Apple Cidar Vinegar will work. I know it definitely removes buildup and softens youre hair! :) Just mix it as 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. shampoo your hair and then rinse with your mixture. Work it through and rinse out..be careful not to get it in your eyes as it will slightly BURN them :) Good luck .
