Korean Surprise Birthday Party Ideas

Me and my friends are planning a surprise birthday party for our friend who moved here from Korea less than a year ago. We're in 6th grade, this is her 12th birthday. Any tips or advice for a Korean birthday party?

Hay I'm Amy. I'm 13 and I think a gr8 idea for a 12th surprise b-day party would b 2 hire a club and have all the good singers out of you and your friends that are going 2 the party to go up on stage with microphones and everything and sing your Korean friends fave song and invite loadz of boyz and girlz and have a disco then choose a few of her closest friends, including um a sleepover at her house, your house or anyone else's house who's parents feel comfortable with it.

Hope this helps

I think you should make a theme for her party e.g. pink party, movie night, glamour night, chocolate night or just have a massive slumber sleepover.

For the party invitations, you could make them in the shape of a hanbok (traditional Korean garment) & vibrant in color.

My sister & brother in law adopted a little Korean girl, she's precious. I'm to keep my eye out for any Korean figurines, dolls, etc. They're just not out there. I do realize that not till the last few years have African American & Indian figurines have been on the market. Maybe there's hope, yet.

RE: Korean Surprise Birthday Party Ideas

I found this tidbit on the internet at a party planning site.
"For a change, try a traditional Korean piñata. Buy a large, stiff plastic beach-size ball that will hold it's shape when deflated. Cut the ball in half. Fill the ball with candy & treats and tape it back together. Decorate the ball with strips of colored paper and ribbons and hang it from a tree branch or swing set with a sturdy cord tied through two holes in the top. Give the children semi-soft balls such as dodge balls or tennis balls to throw at the piñata at will...preferably from the same safe direction towards a open field or a blank wall or fence. Keep throwing the balls at the piñata ball until it splits open and spills the delights inside!" This is the year of the dragon!

- The Korean flag is called Taegeuki.
