Removing Smell From Old Paint

My friend used old (wall) paint (4 years old) and it has made the whole room smell.
How to get it out (airing is not enough)?

RE: Removing Smell From Old Paint

To get the smell of paint (or any odors) out of a room just put some vinegar into a small bowl, cup, glass or pan and set into the corners of the room (out of the way of children or pets). Leave in place for a couple of days, then dump that vinegar out and repeat the process. Hopefully after a week or so, the smell has gone. If not repeat until it does. Also, before painting, put a tablespoonful of vanilla flavoring into the paint and mix well. It is supposed to take the strong paint smell away without changing the color of the paint.

Apply a second coat without further waiting, of fresher paint as posted, and please ask the paint supplier what to expect in the way of odor and how long it normally persists. I never painted a room that could be slept in any sooner than a week or more.
