Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemAida, TX Feedback About This Post:RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemMy mom used to use vinegar in my hair when we ran out of conditioner. It softens your hair... and I know this may be weird, but I like the smell of it! It isn't toxic or people wouldn't use it when dying eggs, then eating the eggs! That is also what makes pickles! So if the vinegar thing works.Go for it! Post by Donna89 RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problemlittle kittens need no medication for their fleas, just bathe them in a vinegar, dishsoap, water combo and dry them then comb them they love the attention and it will discipline them to be bathed and groomed.. if they don't like the bath.....washcloth and saturate them...(not the fact) q-tip their ears first so the fleas don't hide there.... be blessed animal lovers..... they are God's creation also :) Post by SendRoses RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemI have a 5 week old kitten as well. She has fleas. I tried the Dawn dish soap trick and it got rid of a lot of the fleas but not all of them. I'm constantly combing her to get them off, but I need something that is more effective. Any ideas? Post By Brittany (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemPlease indicate how much brewers yeast is to be added to about 1/4 a can of cat food, thank you. Post By joanne. (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemPerhaps you should use brewer's yeast in the food, the fleas do not like the odor from your pets skin, I realize you have a problem, which is hopefully rectified by now. As a preventitive measure use the brewer's yeast or garlic. hope this helps you or someone else looking at these posts. Post By caroline (Guest Post) how 2 feed a kitten at 5 wks no mother
how do I feed a kitten at 5 wks no mother. Post By louise (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemUm, I have put vinegar in my bathwater. I have used it when my scalp itches like crazy and won't stop. I am still alive. My skin is fine. I got it in my eyes and it burned, but not for long. I was saddened to learn that someone would bathe with nothing but vinegar. If it will clean sinks and disposals - would you bathe with it yourself? Post By Nell Liquorman (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problem
One of the most effective ways to get fleas out of your home is to leave a bowl of soapy water under a nightlight in several rooms. The fleas are drawn to the light and then drown in the water. Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problem

The vet said the best thing to do is comb comb comb. She also said in the uk they spray a towel LIGHTLY and wrap the kitten, keep his head out and hold him like that for no more than 5 min. I did it and then combed him. I think it did the trick but I was scared to do it and would not do it again. It was too stressful for me and the baby! Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemI too have a small kitten w/ flea problems and I read on this site about dawn soap. It worked. As I was bathing the kitty all of them stopped moving, I then picked them off and shazam he was itch free, for a day. I cant give him a bath everyday. So I comb and comb. but this is getting old. HELP what more can I do? Post by LISADAWN RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemYou can give Avon's Skin So Soft a try it worked on my mothers dog and kitten. Also it is save for human babbies so it won't hurt your pet. It also works for skin problems on your pet too. If you go to my web site it tells you how to make a dip or you can just spray them down and wash it off. www.youravon.com/jenniferandrews click on why I love. USE olive oil for any kitten no matter what age. Post by creeksend RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemI have an orphaned kitten who is 5 weeks old right now! I got him a week ago. He was flea ridden and I got the best tip to rid him of fleas that worked wonders. Someone from Petco told me to bathe him with the orininal blue Dawn dishsoap and use a flea comb while drying the kitten and after to help get them off. The soap evidently paralyzes the fleas. Hope this helps. I'm going to try it on my 3 year old Corgi dog soon. Post By Linda in Portland (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemJust left feedback and then remembered something else that may be the solution to the age problem. I had a dog that once got a terrible infestation. They were in the house, so everytime I bathed her, she got covered again. I bought a lice comb at Wal-Mart that was battery operated and is supposed to disrupt the nervous system of lice and nits. I combed her with it twice a day for about a week and the fleas were gone. Post By Jessi (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemMost flea medication and shampoos are not safe for kittens so young. If you find a shampoo for kittens, I have a solution for the flea in the ear problem. Put the shampoo around your kittens ears first, this will keep them from heading for the ear first. When I bathe my cats or dogs, I start with a shampoo ring around their necks, because I have seen fleas crawl in eyes and noses during baths. There may be fleas already on their heads, but at least the rest can't migrate. It seems that the fleas should be able to just jump over the shampoo, but they don't. I guess their instinct is to burrow in for safety. Post By Jessi (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problemjust an fyi stay away from HARTZ flea medication. it can kill your cat, young and old. it can cause less serious reactions sush as seizures and serious stomach upset as well. Post By heather (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemTake your kitten to a vet. A five week old kitten is too young to be away from its mother. You are harming the kitten by not having it checked at the vet. Flea medicine is powerful, poisonous - remember, it has to kill fleas - and applied incorrectly, can harm a 5-week old kitten. Don't play God!! TAke the kitten to a vet. Post By Rita Ross (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problem
Aida, Post by meoowmom RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problemcareful not too use flea meds on young kittens or dogs.....the amount needed to kill the fleas may also kill the animal when it absorbs through the skin and gets into the blood stream.....look up some natural remedies on the internet, call a vet for advice a call shouldn't cost $ and do alot of outside combing.... Post By Barbie (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea Problem
Hi Aida, Tx Post By Guest (Guest Post) RE: Orphaned Kitty Flea ProblemTake kitten to vet. Young kittens (cats, too) are sensitive to flea meds (the ones for dogs you find in stores can kill them, apparently -- my friend's kitten died from having seizures due to a flea collar). Vets have flea medicines that are specifically for kittens and they can tell you if the kitten is old enough for treatment or not. They also will have a cat ear cleaning solution that you can gently squirt in the ears that will make the fleas come out or at least drown them. Post By guest. (Guest Post) |
