Comodes With Artificial FlowersAriela from FL A: Ariela, I had to laugh when I saw your question. Next to one of the less used roads going into my city, there is a house that sports an army of 10-12 stark white toilets in the front yard. The toilets are lined up in a perfect row that runs the entire length of the front yard. Every summer the bowels and tanks are brimming over with red, white and purple-colored petunias. The first time I saw it, I admit I nearly drove off the road. Now several years later, it makes me smile every time I drive by. For me, it's come to represent the fact that I'm home and I count on it being there. The flowers are real and it's quite an attention getter. Since over the years the number of toilets has grown, either her family is in the deconstruction business, or they have morphed into some kind of eccentric commode collectors. Incidentally, 80 miles down this highway in the opposite direction, I often pass through a little town by a yard full of flower pots perched atop 7-8 old lawn mowers. I'm not sure where you live in Florida, but using commodes as containers is popular (with some) in small-town Minnesota. What is the most outrageous (bad or good) container that anyone has ever seen? Feedback About This Post:RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersWell, people find that they have these large ceramic containers they dont know what to do with - so they think they might as well recycle them. If only they weren't such a telltale shape! It does end up being down market.... Post by pamphyila RE: Comodes With Artificial Flowers
First off, it's a person's right to use them as a flower pot if they choose to. If it offends someone or if you think its sick/ugly, remember no one is making you look at it. One thing to remember is if a person takes care of their own business, they will be too busy to worry about what those around them are doing! Post By bill (Guest Post) RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI want one but my husband won't let me!! Actually I want a whole bathroom - a claw foot bathtub and a pedestal sink. For me, it's just so I can be different - funny - weird - outside the norm. Someday when I get a house in the country.... Post By Clara (Guest Post) RE: Comodes With Artificial Flowersariela.. i don't think any one meant to imply you don't have a sense of humor Post By Enter your name. (Guest Post) RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI think it is connected to the invasion of Mutant Monarch Butterflies on some people's houses (I have seen these two decorations together unfortunately!) and flamingoes migrating to northern front yards! Post by camo_angels RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersWe moved here a few years ago and I saw one in a yard and just figured it was some person's weird idea of decorating but then it moved from yard to yard and I finally noticed a sign on it. It was a fundraiser sort of like the flamingos you pay to have put in someone's yard with a sign that says "You've been flocked" I was very relieved to find out this wasn't a fashion statement!!! Well, I do have a scence of humor. I just think they look idiotic (sorry) When I see the one a couple houses down from us I keep thinking one of these days when we pass by there will be a teenager Post by Ariela RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI GUESS MY SENSE OF HUMOR IS WITH ARIELA'S I THINK THEY ARE UGLY TO LOOK AND ARE EXTREMELY TACKY Post by imaqt1962 RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersWhere's your sense of humor? I wouldn't have it in my yard, but I think it's hilarious in someone else's. Post by sewingmamma RE: Comodes With Artificial Flowers
Recently in my area a couple put several in the yard with toilet brushes sticking up like flowers. This was the response they had after being turned down by the community to install a privacy fence. Post by a406 RE: Comodes With Artificial Flowers
Ohhhhhhh could it be to annoy the neighbors? Post by meoowmom RE: Comodes With Artificial Flowers

I think there's a Redneck joke there somewhere? lol Post by Kreatvmuzk1111 RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI live in FL, too, and it seems to be the "in" way of outdoor decorating. It's so gross and ugly!!!!! When we were looking at houses to buy, if the realestate agent pulled up to a house that had one of those, I refused to even look at the house. I figure if they were using a toilet for an outdoor decoration, I didn't even want to bother looking at the inside of the home. Post by lovethosehounds RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersMaybe the people are plumbers? Post By Cheryl from Missouri (Guest Post) RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI think they are extremely tacky and would never have one in my yard!!! Post By Enter your name. That makes it a "Flower Pot". Post By Beverly (Guest Post) RE: Comodes With Artificial FlowersI think it must have been started by a crazy relative of mine. There is no purpose to it. Probably someone didn't want to take the time to take the commode to the garbage dump & thought it would look cute in the front yard with flowers in it. I hate seeing this type of "art work" in people's yards also. If our homes, our dress, etc are a reflection of who we are, what does it say about a person that has such an ornament in their yard?
