Lady Bug IssuesKaren Feedback About This Post:RE: Lady Bug IssuesWe live in the pacific northwest and we have a huge ladybug issue . We even bug bombed our house in an effort to get rid of them, after the bomb (and the prescribed amount of time you are supposed to stay out of the house) it was literally raining ladybugs inside! GROSS! I swept them up and had a gallon bag of ladybugs. Gross! Sadly this did not take care of the problem and they are still abundant. HELP! Post By L Brown (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug IssuesWe have ladybugs inWestern Ky and we only seem to have a problem with them in the fall. So far it is almost Dec. Nov 29 and I am still getting them in the house. To many to just send outside I have to swat them and throw them in the toilet. They are becoming a pest. I have thousands of ladybugs this year. I have a rainbow vacuum that does the trick but I would have to stay home from work in order to get rid of them. I am trying the incense which is definitely making a difference. I am on my way to get the Hot Shot bug strips from Loews. Thanks for all the suggestions. Post by annebernadine RE: Lady Bug IssuesHi I live in western ny aprox 42 miles from Buffalo NY and we have so many lady bugs inside. It is pretty pathetic when you have to cover every thing you are cooking on the stove, cover your soda etc. It seems we can kill all that we see and the next day more and more are back replaceing the dead ones and the windows with the sun are a meeting place for them and they love my cream color carpet in the living room also, the past few days the high was 13 degrees and that has not stopped them. I am so disgusted by them all.....Any Ideas please let me know, now that spring is around the corner I don't even want to think how many more we will have Post By Mary -sick of lady bugs (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug IssuesWe have those horrible bugs too. My two year old son likes to feed them to our dog (who thinks they are a great treat). When the dog doesn't get them I vacuum them up. Post By melissa in wv (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug Issues
Hello there!! Just wanted to post and say....ladybugs the one's we remember as the "good guys" are reddish in color. Post By pook40 (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug IssuesThese are not Lady Bugs these are called asian beetles, nothing will actually keep them out. When it warms up they show back up. They do smell bad and will bite, but they arent venomous. You can vacuum them up but make sure that you kill them before emptying the vacuum. Post by Mnchyld95 RE: Lady Bug Issues
Wow. Gloria is right. Here in California we buy them for the garden to keep aphids away. I even have a ladybug house in my garden but can't get enough of them to stay. Post By Brenda (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug Issues
I live in Indiana now, and there were thousands of them around here!! Yes, they stink and bite. I have had them in my bed, and of course, that grosses me out. Crazy, I know, but I spray vinegar on my bed when that happens, and it seems to help. Vinegar is anti-bacterial too. Post by alleen RE: Lady Bug Issues
Someone last year suggested burning vanilla candles or using vanilla flavored room deorderants. They said they don't like the smell of vanilla. You might try it. I moved to a different house & have only seen very few here in this house in the fall. Post by jewatson58 RE: Lady Bug IssuesThe Lady Bug's won't bother anything. The easiest thing to do is to vacuum them up. You will find that they come out in the warmer weather. Post By Mahopacnymommy (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug Issues
Hi, Post By CHML (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug Issues
hi and yes i also have lady bugs in my condo. i know they are harmless, but when you have 15 - 20 per day they are gross. an exterminator already told me there is nothing i can do. the like the sun. so the windows that face the sun is where they come in from. Post By sandy (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug IssuesHi, I thought LadyBugs are harmless and good for your garden. They eat the bad guys. In California, we buy them to place in our garden, and hope they stay. Post By Gloria (Guest Post) RE: Lady Bug Issues
I'm not sure if I'm talking about the same insect here - we had what we called ladybirds, (a type of small beetle with red folded wings like a little shell, with black spots), in Britain when I was a child. There is absolutely nothing 'nasty' of harmful about these bugs! We used to allow them to crawl on our hands - they don't bite/sting or otherwise cause any harm. They are beautiful and some species are very beneficial to the garden as previously mentioned. I would just sweep them up and put them back outside - and stop stressing! (If they are the same insect that is!) Post by Jo Bodey RE: Lady Bug IssuesI simply vacuum them up at put the bag in the garbage. If you swat them they will leave a stain. We live in Kansas and I'm glad to know we're not the only ones suffering from an overabundance of ladybugs. I guess they're really just an annoyance until spring really does come. I just wish they wouldn't use my cream-colored carpet as their graveyard! Post by calnorth RE: Lady Bug Issues
Hello! We have lady bugs all winter long here in North Dakota..they are the Asian type which prefer to overwinter indoors..basicly they are harmless and good for plants, both indoors and out...they eat aphids and other bugs that destroy plants..if they are an issue for you though, just get out the fly swatter :0) Post by gardenlady58102 RE: Lady Bug IssuesI live in Ohio. Its winter now, but usually in the fall we get some of those rare warm spells, which we like to call "Indian Summers". HUNDREDS of ladybugs come out and start building their nests, and I'm assnuming they think its spring. Fortunately, these warm spells only last anywhere between one to three days and they die off when it gets cold again. Just wait for a while and they'll go away;it would be a huge waste of money trying to call the exterminator. Post by mishalee |
