Help Selecting a Chair and Rug Color for Living Room

I am looking for some design/color advice. I have a living room (beige carpet), a navy blue leather sectional and a light pine colored entertainment center. Unfortunately, its a rental so I cannot paint the walls but I'm having a hard time figuring out which color chair/rug to go with everything. I'm shying away from a navy blue chair because I think it may darken the room a bit too much.

Select a plaid or stripe chair in almost any contrasting color with a patterned rug.

What color wall do you have? If you have a dark color wall go with a light color brown rug and if you have a light color wall go with a two tone rug color. For the chair , I would go with a lighter blue with a beige tint in it.

I vote for burgundy - nice spot of color. Don't know your style, but in my "early attic" decor, I'd look for an oriental-type area rug with navy & burgundy.

How about a rug in some kind of natural fiber like sisal. For the chair, a green and navy print on a beige or off-white background?
