Mismatched Sock Solutions
- Fill with Barley and tie the tube area in a knot. Freeze or microwave for sore muscles.
- Decorate cute one for the Holidays.
- Find the same kind and color, and keep it as a spare.
- My Favorite is... When the weather outside is cold, I wear them under my matching socks for extra warmth. No one knows and they work great!

Good idea. I always have mismatched socks. Plus I always wear 2-3 pairs in the winter anyway. Thanks One other thing you can do it is great for catnip and makes a great cat toy.

What I do is I sort out my sock drawer about every year or so and collect up any odd socks, buy some blue dye and dye them all the same colour. You can then wear them again-it doesn't matter that they are not exactly the same. If I buy any new socks I either buy blue or grey and then mix/dye to get pairs from odd ones! cool eh!

Oh, I do remember those days when the washer or dryer would eat up those socks. It seemed a never ending pile of mismatched socks. I used the safety pin method which worked for awhile, I used the little plastic thingys, too, but the best thing that worked for me was to put them in mesh bags and wash them that way. I also started buying all one color...with the mismatched ones I used for all kinds of stuff including making rag dolls which were so cute or tie the socks together to make a play toy for my dog. My kids are grown now and I live by myself and it's so much easier just to put them in that mesh bag. I also put my bras in the mesh bags to wash also. Thanks for your ideas.

As for the ones that have holes in them just keep them and put them on over a pair that doesn't have holes in them for extra added insulation during the cold months. Or how about this: buy socks in bulk that all look the same. That way when one goes missing just put the other one aside for when another one goes missing and just pair up the two that are left behind. Works for me. Peace!

If you have alot, you can cut the sock at the ankle and then cut the tube so it lays flat and sew several together and use them for dusters, to put hot pots on, a baby's spit up rag.
Then take the foot part and put lavender etc in it and sew up and place in drawers or hang in closets.

wear one on each hand & mist with furniture spray to dust quickly.
they sell a sock gadget but I found they are only good for smaller socks because they are plastic & they break.
Mom used to use saftey pins to keep them together.
How about hang a mesh bag near the laundry JUST for socks -- tell everyone to put only dirty socks in it-then launder the whole bagfull as normal?
how about a simple NO NEED TO BUY MORE SOCKS FOR AWHILE SOLUTION?
try : spool knitting.

We keep water bottles half full in the freezer, and when want cold water for On-THE-GO we take one, fill with water, and put in one of those odd socks. It absorbs any moisture collection on outside of bottle.

I will say I have a sock basket in the laundry room, where they await their mates arrival from the dryer.
But I am extremely thrifty and "green" so I also throw the one that has a huge hole and keep the other. So ALOT of my socks just don't have a mate. I simply keep the right sizes together: regular, ankle etc. I only wear holiday/novelty socks so I just make sure they sort of match.
It's a great way to show your creative side. They now sell miss-matched socks at the expensive sock stores! $5.00 for 3 different socks(NOT pairs) in similar designs. Sure makes you look at your sock basket in a new light. Miss matched socks are a fashion statement!

Sandra, I can tell you what happens to the other socks! They're sacrificed to the dryer god so he/she will continue to dry the rest of the clothes. See how easy that was to figure out? =(^.^)=
