My dog is a small 1 year old shih-tzu. I think she is constipated because she hasn't done her business lately. She just hasn't been her self.

My dog is an old miniature poodle and well we just got her a while back and it seems like she keeps trying to poop but it will be on its way coming out then she will just give up and it looks like shes struggling to go. I heard that it would be good to give her milk but she doesn't take it. What can I do?

My dog has been acting very irratible the last few days and I have notice his stomach seems to be hurting. I did see him poo yesterday but today while he tried he was unable to go and was grunting while he was breathing. I am wondering if there are any suggestions. I did notice the other day he ate a paper towel but threw up some of it.

My dog has tried to poop for 2 days now and really pushes, but nothing comes out. She whines a lot while trying. I think a neighbor gave her some ham bones and turkey on Thursday. Friday she just laid around and hardly moved. Not normal for a 5 y.o. Irish Setter. What can I do?

Well my dog has been getting and getting worms and now she is constipated. We have took her to the vet and put in her worm treat meats, but nothing seems to work. She is a Shepperd rot - lab mixed is a cool dog and very playful. I just want to no if anyone has any ideas of why this is happening?

Well, my Golden Retriever is constipated, I didn't see any hard stool but he doesn't want to go for 2 days now. He eats grass but it doesn't help him. Thank you all for the suggestions. I will try that canned pumpkin to see how it works, Thanks

My dogs anal hurts, he his keeping his tail between his legs and will not let us see his anal gland. He cries like he is serious pain when we try to look. Could he be constipated or should we take him to the Vet - worried.
Editor's Note: Yes, it would be best to get him to the vet.

The Vet told a friend of mine to feed her dog .....
Canned Pumpkin, the dog loved it & it worked.
Just start out feeding a couple of Tablespoons & keep giving more, till you reach the right amount.
This will not harm your pet, & it works.

I worked for a veterinarian who prescribed Metamucil. You can put it right in the dog's food. They also love the Metamucil cookies. Make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water to drink.

Is this a chronic problem? Exercise helps my dog a lot. If it is something that has come on suddenly I would check with the vet as it could be a blockage of some kind.

We had this problem fairly recently and the vet advised buying a Fleet's enema for humans, put vaseline on the tip to help ease it in and slowly insert the liquid. Try to keep the dog still for a few minutes. It did work and our dog laid fairly still for it as she seemed to know we were trying to help. It did take two of us, one to give and one to pet and distract the dog.

I worked at a pet store for a while..and when this question came up..we were advised by the local vet to add butter/margarine...into the dog food..it should help and will also make their coats shiney..hope this helps you

A product called "The Missing Link" has worked wonders for both my Bichon and Golden Retriever - even helps with skin problems and weight maintenance. You can get it at http://1800petmeds.com or I have also found it a Petsmart. It is relatively inexpensive and certainly worth a try.

MY DOG WAS CONSTIPATED AND I TOOK HIM TO THE VET AND THEY DID XRAYS AND FOUND OUT HE ATE ROCKS AND THEY WERE STUCK.
