Moving to Roswell, New MexicoI know there are tornadoes there as there are here because I saw pictures. What time do you get up in the morning to finish outdoor chores before it's too hot? What time do you put dinner in the oven at night so you don't heat up the house worse than it might be? Do you have to be on the lookout for rattlesnakes and scorpions all the time or is that just in the movies? Do you get a lot of water rationing? Or do they call it something else? Do you get "boil orders" like we have had around here after a lot of rain and it floods and the water is believed to be contaminated? I have a lot of questions and some of them I haven't thought of yet! Can you tell me about sand storms? Any input is welcomed! melody_yesterday from Sedalia, Missouri Feedback About This Post:RE: Moving to Roswell, New Mexico
I live in New Mexico just outside of Albuquerque. The southwest is very different from Missouri, not as green but practically no humidity. The weather can get hot (it is the desert!) so plan on doing outside chores, etc. in the mornings during the summer. The winter is usually very moderate, jackets are usually enough to keep us warm. The post about Ruidoso is right on - beautiful part of our state. Post By threegetts (Guest Post) RE: Moving to Roswell, New Mexico
I lived in Roswell in the late 50's because my hubby was stationed there. It gets very hot in the afternoon. You have to keep the house shut tight when the sand storms blow but you will still get some in the house. I never had any prob with snakes but sure did with scorpions and torantillas. We kept the legs of the bed in cups with stuff in to discourage them from climbing in the bed. In the morning we made sure to shake our boots n shoes out real good. Also they have some of the largest roaches I have ever in my life seen. But the scenery there is outstanding. Would I ever live there again. You can bet on it Post By tupelo granmom. (Guest Post) RE: Moving to Roswell, New MexicoI would also love to see things on cities and state.......we are moving to Galveston and are aware that there are things we should know about but have't had much luck. I live in El Paso, TX, and have family in Roswell. As with any town, there are good and bad things about it. Post By Peggy (Guest Post) RE: Moving to Roswell, New Mexico

There's a nifty website for you to look up and discuss such information. It is city-data.com. I hope this helps answer your questions. Post By Darlene (Guest Post) |
