Keeping Collar Up on Faux Fur Jacket

I purchased a 60's faux fur Leopard coat on Ebay and the collar won't stay up. Does anyone know what I can do to reinforce this limp collar so that it stays up on it's own? Any advice will help. Thanks

You could open the collar and slip a piece of thin plastic inside to firm up the collar or maybe a little starch?

I'd cut a piece of plastic from a milk jug or a bleach jug to fit inside the collar.

Could you open the collar and put some boning where you need the extra structure?
