Does My Other Dog Have Parvo Too?
Today he hasn't eaten and did throw up his food this morning. He has only had dry heaves since then. I gave him Pedialite and made him broth but he won't eat it. I did give him antibiotic Amoxicillian. I'm afraid to got to sleep. Any suggestions? Can we really pull him out of this. I can't even imagine loosing 2 dogs. Help!

It does sound like he is getting it as well. I think you should get him to the vet asap because parvo is very bad stuff and the longer you wait the worse it gets and quickly too. I'm sure you seen that with the other dog. The sooner the vet catches it the better chance you stand of saving it.

Just a note to bring every one up to date. Today is the 5th day since my dog Irish wasn't feeling well.
As of last night he was up and happy and we fed him rice. He is doing much better. We went thru 1 1/2 bottles of pedialite and gave him fluids for 5 days. and lots of love. So far so good. We are so thankful! We miss our Daisy, she was just to young and small to fight it and there were no warning signs from her. Thanks to all who responded.

I agree with both posts ahead of mine. Get your dog to a doctor now! If you can't afford a vet, you should probably find homes for your dogs. Please get your other dog to a vet or you will have the exact same outcome as your poor little puppy!

I am not a vet but have quite a few years experience as a vet tech. Parvo is a fast acting virus and your BEST chance of your dog surviving (if he does have parvo) is to take him to the vet NOW. I have seen a lot of dogs survive this virus when they got immediate attention. The sooner your dog is started on IV fluids the better chance he has. If it is parvo and he is not given treatment soon - chances are he won't make it.
Parvo is a Virus so antibiotics will not help. Pet vaccines are like human vaccines - VERY effective but not 100%. I know this sounds gross but sometimes you can tell if it is parvo by the smell. Often, there is blood mixed in with the vomit and/or diarrhea and has a very strong smell - much worse than what it would normally smell.
I don't meant to scare you (well, maybe I am) but please don't take chances. Please take him to your vet - that is the ONLY way to find out if it is parvo or not.

Why did you give him an antibiotic? What infection are you trying to cure? Don't you have a vet? If you're so concerned you need to be talking to experts. I haven't read anywhere on here that there is a veterinarian who answers questions on this web site. Talk to people who KNOW the answers.
